Cost of CCW in CAlifornia

Do your due diligence. When picking any kind of defensive program (insurance). I am with CCWSAFE and did a lot of research on it. Thanks to a guy named Big Jake years ago on Calguns, before there were so many to choose from. There are comparisons of different companies on the internet, and they will even have charts showing what they provide and what their competition provides. Some people double up, before doing that make sure they can work together. These companies all have different levels of liability coverage. They provide in house lawyers;(some let you pick your own), investigators and expert witnesses etc. Remember it can be ruled a justifiable shooting, but he was someone's father, son, brother, husband and they will push for a civil trial and sue for damages (lots of money). Where if I remember correctly the burden of proof is not as cut and dried. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. Remember O.J. Simpson was cleared of his wife's murder but sued civilly and lost.

In a criminal case, the burden of proof to convict a defendant is “beyond a reasonable doubt.” In a civil case, the plaintiff’s burden of proof for the defendant to be found liable is merely “a preponderance of the evidence” (basically “more likely than not”), which is a much lower standard to overcome.
