Could i get away with a 6th PPT sale?

Do a lot of you sell that frequently? Just curious. I don’lt think I’ve even sold more than than for roster guns in a year.

theres always a bigger fish to catch. i sell my old guns i shoot less to get the ones i want more this year

My FFL has suggested its not something to be absurdly worried about if you go over by 1 or 2, especially if its not a suspicious transaction like multiple guns of the same type/model, or both in a very short period.

IMHO, one needs to separate what is legal from what is reasonable.
And when deciding to do something illegal, one needs to ask whether it is reasonable — meaning, is it worth the risk?
For example, over the last year I sold a lot of ammo I had no use for. I got many offers to do it off the books. Every time, I asked myself the same question: do I really want to risk my gun rights over X dollars?
Listen, if your kids have nothing to eat, or your dog needs urgent surgery, or something similar, that is one thing. If it is simply, “I got tired of this gun and want a new one,” that is another.
Basically, consider why you want to violate the law. In my book, the reasoning that “it is a stupid law” is not good enough. But your mileage may vary.
Let me leave you with one last thought. Regardless of how overhyped AI may be, one thing it is definitely very good at is data scraping and analysis.
So tomorrow, or five years from now, someone at DOJ may feed PPT transfer data into an AI system, and it may find your sixth transfer. Who knows what, if anything, they will do with that information...

If you are listing Gen6 Glocks for say greater than $1500, yes 5 is the max and you will get busted for selling the 6th one at that price.

If you are listing a G19 Gen 6 for say $800 or so, than that one sale to ME will not count as your 6th!

I remember years ago, I talked with a DOJ agent on phone and said I planned to sell a big portion of my collection off as I no longer wanted to own so many guns and I would end up losing value in total sale.

He said that would be fine as long as I wasn’t doing this all the time, etc.

I think the law is there to stop the bad actors mostly, like LEOs, family transfers, etc that buy off roster guns continuously to sell and make a profit in state defeating the hand gun roster.

That is exactly the problem with all those assinine laws.

First you create roster
Therefore you create insentive for people who exempt to become de facto unlicensed dealers
Then you create law to clamp those unlicensed dealers you created in the first place
Then so.r poor soul needs some money and ignores the law
Then his name comes up in some unrelated issue and now procecutor have an opportunity to jam him up with gun dealing charge

Nobody intended that. But it will happen one day.
