Curious how everyone here designed their collection.

This ties directly into my theory related to I owned a CZ 75 going back to like the year 2000. For years when I showed it to people, like actual gun people, they were baffled and hadn’t heard of them. Then the gun was featured in call of duty black ops and CZ exploded.

I used to get the weirdest looks when I would get my 75b .40s&w out. Everyone that shot it liked it but I still was one of two guys at the local ranges that had one. At some point it became the hipster gun and got played out. The posts I see on reddits CZ sub baffle me. It’s like dress up over there.

I don't even remember the last time I took my Kadet kit off my 75SA. I don't think I've shot 9MM thru it in 10 or 12 years.

Don’t get caught up in letting hipsters ruin good things. CZs can still be great guns that are very customizable and worth owning even if douches treat CZ like it’s their tribe during wartime and go to fanboy extremes.

I love Glocks and CZs and a bunch of other guns based on their individual merit; other brands have fanboys too (CZ might be amongst the worst though) but you can’t let it ruin something that was already great before they got involved…

So true. Once you own and shoot 2011’s everything else seems so similar and boring. Except old school guns like 1911s, revolvers or 90’s S&W 3rd gens. Now those are and will always be cool.

I keep an eye out for the S&W 5906 specifically. I missed one earlier this month…I’ll grab the next one that appears in the classifieds of my LGS. A lot of 90s movies and shows had characters using this gun. That, and the stainless steel soaks up a lot of the recoil.

I designed most of my collection as a SHTF collection. If me and my family needed guns and we needed to own the block you would either have an AR or AK and enough magazines and ammo, a 12 gauge pump with enough 00 buckshot, and/or a 9mm full size handgun (glock or CZ75), and/or a 1911. If it was a SHTF situation, I'd want anyone around me who see's me open my safe to put their hands together, look up and do the sign of the cross, and say "Thank you God!!"

Design? I don’t need no stinking design! All of my purchases have been completely random and without any internal logic.

I don't know if 7 is enough for a collection but I'm bored so: I think my collection is 90% functional (fantasy) application.

First handgun was an intro to the hobby. Friend recommended I hold a Glock (didn't like it) and an M&P. Bought the M&P and it's my function never-breaks HD pew pew.

Then I bought a CZ for competition. My love of full-metal was born.

Bought a 10/22 takedown as a practice rifle / bugout firearm. 2020 concerns were real. Same reason I bought a Ruger SR-22 pistol: practice for pennies.

AR because you can't daydream about civil collapse without having an AR in your house. I think it's one of the laws of make believe. Same goes having a Mossberg.

Bought my 92FS because of all the movies we loved as kids. I'd say it's my first "safe queen" because while I have put a few hundred rounds through it I don't train with it as much as my CZ for obvious reasons. The ergos are OK, the sights are trash, the trigger pull is 80 feet long but damn do I love looking at it.

In the future I'll buy some things for their aesthetic appeal (lever action, a revolver) and something to conceal but I don't aspire to own too many of the same thing.

They stopped making them because polymer and striker fired became hawt and majority of people and law enforcement went this route.

Hell yeah. I suggest the 5906 and 4506. Would love to own a 1006 one day. The old school look and feel, and nostalgia of these guns are kinda like an old school muscle car. They’re just different, classy and cool.

I have very few guns I don't shoot.

My collection is based around what I like shooting which is sporting clays and plinking with rifles. I'll go to the pistol range once in a while.

Started out wanting to buy the 'best' pistol, so got a sig x5 legion. For some reason i could never shoot it well, threw a red dot on didnt help much, Tried a glock 26, now im obsessed with glocks, i shoot them 100 times better vs sigs, not sure why i just do.

Got into buying and building loads of hunting rifles and ars, then got to the point where i had a lot of toys but wasnt really trained up on any of them enough to be dangerous, my safe started to overflow and reached a point where i had cure the 'more disease' and decided to scale back collection and get dialed in with a few guns, focusing on technique and functional effectiveness vs what feels cool.

Still have a ways to go to simplify collection but i feel a lot better now that im deciding to stop buying and getting good with a few

I’m with you on Sigs, haha!! I can’t the side of a barn (from the inside) with a Sig, and I’ve tried them all.

The only Sig I have is a surplus M17, and only because it’s surplus. I can’t hit with the M17, either. I even have the Sig Romeo M17 RDS, haha!!

I'd also like to add that none of my firearms were ever fancy or top shelf tier brands. I always looked away from HK, SIG, or Daniel Defense, Arsenal, Wilson Combat, etc. I always settled for the best guns that were the cheapest within my budget, the "Honda Civics" or "Toyota Corollas" of brands. This includes Mossberg pump shot guns, Romanian Aks, Glocks, forged AR lower receivers, Ruger revolvers, etc.

KISS Method. A pistol and an PCC. Interchangeable magazines, same ammo, multiple uses. Might not work for everybody but so far it’s been working well for me. When I go to the range, I can focus more on training and tuning my silks or lack thereof.
