CZ Shadow 2 Carry?

I saw this morning that the CZ Shadow 2 Carry is now available to those not living in our state. But I don't get the draw. I'm strictly a range shooter and don't plan on a CCW but wouldn't weight and comfort be more of a concern than accuracy? A P-01 with an optic mount seems much more appealing.

I honestly don’t see much difference between a P-01 with some Cajun Gun Works parts and the S2 compact . The decocker is ambidextrous which is good for lefties. It’s going to cost me a few hundred bucks to get my P-01 optic milled and refinished with Black Nitrate. Still cheaper than an S2 which comes optics ready.

I carry a nearly stock P-01 and It is heavy but with a good belt and holster , it works.

It’s easier to carry a P365XL . Is nor comfortable , but that coms with a compromise .

Yesterday I was timing draws to first shots and draws to controlled pairs and reloads from concealment ( live fire) . I tested both a P-01 and a P365XL. In terms of manipulation both were even. When comparing shooting controlled pairs and rapid fire at 15 and 25 yards after drawing from concealment , the P-01 dominated. The XL is less snappy than the P365 but the P-01 shoots so flat the XL seemed really snappy and slow .

The heavier compact pistol was easier to be more accurate with at speed

The heavier DA/SA carry pistols are accurate and easy to shoot.

A Glock 19 is probably more than enough and less than half the price of Shadow 2 compact.

CZ either pulled or let a few of their models fall off the roster, I was wondering if it was so they could introduce new models since new guns can be added to the roster for now, I guess time will tell.

To answer your question, this gun the Shadow 2 CARRY not to be confused with the Shadow 2 COMPACT. The Shadow 2 CARRY is basically a P01 with an optics cut, re-shaped slide and new grips. The CARRY has an aluminum frame not a steel frame like the others so it's weight is not a hugely different to the OG P01. It's basically the same size as a G19 so that is the gold standard in size for CCW it's just heavier. I carry a full size M&P9 or an Xmacro so to me this is right in the middle of those 2 and the weight is similar to my M&P but smaller, it's heavier than my macro. Lots of people like the carry SA/DA guns because of the added safety of being able to have your thumb on the hammer during holstering so you know it's going in safely.

It’s literally called the “carry” if you don’t ccw then the “draw” is missed on you.

Well...P-01 is also off the roster now so lose, lose. I have the P-01. If the Shadow 2 compact ever makes it on the roster, I'm getting one.

There is no major difference between a custom P-01 and a Shadow 2 carry EXCEPT…

In jurisdictions where you can’t deviate from manufacturer’s specs on a your ccw gun. You can’t carry a CGW P-01, but you can carry a S2 compact carry which is the same thing.

The Shadow 2 trigger pull weight specs are :

• Trigger Pull Weight: DA=11 pounds, 14 ounces, SA=4 pounds, 12 ounces

The original trigger pull weights on my CZ P-01 were around A 9.5 lbs/ SA 3.5 lbs

After 10,500 rounds or so the trigger weights on a stock P-01 are: DA: 6.83 lbs SA :2.13 lbs.

tbh we aren’t missing out on much with the s2 carry (but on principle the roster needs to go) as it is just a shadow shaped p-01 but it has a few things over the p01 like out of the box dot mounting and an (allegedly) better trigger. I say allegedly because I have had a bad run with CZ pistols recently lol.

The Shadow 2 Carry uses the same trigger architecture as the P-01 rather than the Shadow 2. So you will never be able to make the S2 Carry to have as nice a trigger than a customized S2. It's basically a larger P-01 with an optic cut.
