Hi guys,

New to this forum, but I moved in from out of state and have a Dan Wesson ECO in 9mm I'd like to sell, it's in good condition. It has VZ grips G10 with a thumb cut in rosewood, and will come with (2) 8 round stock mags, (2) 10 round Wilson Combat mags and (1) 10 round Tripp Research mag and a takedown tool (paperclip lol). It has maybe 500 rounds through it.

I am not sure what a fair going price for it would be. Could I get some input?

Thanks in advance.

I will take it off your hands for $1.

JK. I mean it's always tough cause anything that is "off roster" and harder to get commands some sorta premium, but OTOH used these things dont really sell for all that much on Gunbroker for instance. the completed auctions show them going for around 1200, 1300 (assuming 4", the 3.25" goes for more like 1.1k on the used market). so add in a 30% premium on it being off roster, but not really being a "trendy" gun (I mean it isnt a DWX for instance) and so figure something around MSRP (1600), maybe a bit more. so. start at 1800 or so maybe 2000 and see where it settles. JMO. be patient. unless you are fire selling the gun the market is a bit soft right now. 9mm so you might be able to get more, cause seems more "valuable" than .45. some guys shoot for the moon and hope someone bites, so a little it depends on how much you really wanna sell it.

Sadly (for us, good for you) is that the "California premium" for an off-roster gun is anywhere from 75% to 150% over MSRP. Some guns are in little-to-no demand (like a S&W SV9e), so they aren't going to really be able to sell at a premium at all. But guns like yours will have more interest because Dan Wesson is an excellent manufacturer.

You could always do the altruistic thing and sell it for either MSRP or a little more instead of selling it for the cop premium that most off roster guns go for.

These "what's it worth" threads always come across as low-key fishing for offers, especially when the poster makes sure to describe the item, its condition and all the accessories. Use gunbroker or one of the other sites to determine what the gun has sold for and just post a WTS ad.

How else would someone be able to tell me what it's worth, if I don't tell them how it is?

Fair is an opinion but I’ll give you mine. If you want “fair” pricing. I’d say look at what roughly what it’s priced at retail, and add tax and excise tax that one would have had to pay if they were able to buy it new here. The off roster premium here is that you sold off a used gun for new price plus taxes.

Given that your gun sounds like it is a pretty rare off roster though, I think you could get more than that “fair” pricing but the higher you go the longer you may wait.
