yeah after shooting a 2011 most of this year I'm finding I actually use my thumb more on guns without a safety. I actually don't think it's a bad thing either i almost feel like it's a little more stable for doing strong hand shooting
Same, and that’s how my echelon never locks back :)

Most thumb safeties are too small or low for me to index on (except for Atlas high-ride) but I still do a safety sweep on pistols without one.

Nowadays, I’m really trying not to put any additional input on index points, especially since I often shoot multiple pistol platforms; I want my grip do the work as that’s the most consistent.

However, I do flag my thumb when shooting one handed. But I feel weird about it like, if I was in an actual exchange, I’ll get my thumb blown off. 🤣

Atlas safeties are where it's at for sure. I fell that one handed the thumb pressure helps, it's all about consistency though. Lately Ive been focusing on "even pressure" vs front to back or support hand crunching, Ive found that medium pressure all around gets me better dot return than the other methods and it's also easier. I think that fits into your "no additional input" idea. I do cringe when I see people talk about support hand thumb on the frame though, that just seems like a bad choice.
