Event Diablo RGC - Saturday Night Shoots , USI - Concord, 5-8pm - Now Open to Non-Members - Every Saturday - Bay Area

Is this Night Shooting -or- a Night Match? Is this on the Action Pistol side or the public side? RRGC used to have night matches with pistol mounted lights from low ready or holster.
It would be nice if DAP allowed night matches. So far as of right now they havnt.

No, this is not competition style shooting. An easier way for me to explain it, is, think of an outdoor pistol range, shooting from bench, but during night time instead of regular public hours, and they have installed led strip lights to help with a little illumination. This takes place on the public range; but after public range hours. Public range hours is run by USI. The Saturday night shoot is hosted by Diablo Rod and Gun Club.

Compared to the past, they have added more led lights, maybe because people were not bringing weapon mounted lights/lasers or bringing handhelds. It’s a little brighter now.

This is not a no-light shoot where having a WML or handheld is mandatory.

If you want competition style shooting, Diablo Action Pistol is a place to start, you need to take the orientation and be a member of Diablo Rod and Gun Club; within 90 day you need to participate in your first match without being DQ to be DAP certified. If you already have your classification then you won’t need to do the orientation.
Thanks, I've been going to Saturday DAP practice ( Except there was no practice yesterday!). RRGC Practice Saturdays are now few and far between so DAP works. I'm going to start shooting matches at RRGC again. I've never shot a Steel Challenge match but the practice has been pretty fun. Lots of familiar faces over at DAP now.

Yeh, I was planning on going in the morning but ended up sleeping in until almost 1pm. So kind of glad I didn’t wake up for it. I wonder why they didn’t host one yesterday.

Do you happen to like USPSA or IDPA more?

Are the range rules the same as the public hours, one shot every 3 seconds?
Public range SOP, when it comes to shots per second, is 1 shot per 2 seconds. If the range was one shot every 3 seconds I would have stopped spending my range time there.

Technically, the rules are supposed to be the same at this event.

This event can be good for someone who is looking to shoot pistol calibers on pistol side, in the evening, not exceeding 3 hours, but only going to pay $15 (as a Diablo member) or $20 (as a non-member) for the 3 hours vs. $25 of general admission of regular public hours (you can stay from start to close).

@2muchsoysauce4allthisrice do you know if new folks can sign the waiver at Diablo Saturday night shoot or do they need to do that during USI business hours?
The waiver can be signed online at USI’s website. But you will need to grab the orange card inside the USI office; during business hours.

Anyone going to this? I'm about to leave and it's my first time at this event.
They’ll be out there today. It’s technically covered so it won’t be wet for you. However, it’ll probably be slow crowd wise since it’s raining so if that’s what you’re looking for; that’s a good day to get away from the crowd. But, If it rains too hard your cardboard target will be all wet.

I’m not going today.

Just now got a surge. I don’t think targets would even stay on the poles

Even during USI’s public pistol and rifle hours (before 5pm), if it’s raining so hard that the cardboard targets won’t stay on the poles and the weather forecast shows it will continue to rain hard during open hours; sometimes they shut it down and call it an early day.

I had a great time. I like shooting in bad conditions. It didn't get as dark as I wanted, but I tested out my Harbor Freight light and it's actually pretty good. I'll be back next week and bring my rifle.
