Do you clean a gun before selling?

I haven't sold any guns. But I have cleaned them in the bathroom. Does that count?

I would still buy a dirty gun provided it hadn’t rusted from neglect. But frankly I wouldn’t come away from the transaction with a very high opinion of the seller. I understand that not everybody cleans their weapons after every use. I understand that not everybody periodically inspects every weapon in their safe. I understand that not everybody has stood formal weapons inspections or been made to answer for flecks of somebody else’s spit purposefully misidentified as dust on a weapon. But if you’re going to hand another grown man a firearm, look him in the eye and expect him to give you money in exchange the very least you can do is give it what you mistakenly believe is a proper cleaning.

I inspect when I purchase, but also will usually do a quick field strip and lube (if necessary) before a range visit. This is even if it’s my own gun from my safe.

I shoot maybe 500 rounds per year mainly through a staccato XC. The rest of my guns are just for the “wall” If I buy a used gun, part of the joy is cleaning it (at least to me)

I clean my pews after every use, so that would be a yes, but based on the used pews I've bought the answer is almost exclusively no.

I almost feel like most people aren't inquisitive enough to learn how to do it.

Don't use ultrasonic on aluminum and plastic. If you did, check tolerances after. Ultrasonic cleaners eats aluminum for breakfast and plastic for dinner.

Got my P320 out of jail... immediately went to the range. Went home to clean it...and what.the.F-...not a huge deal but this thing was/is filthy.

I'm gonna have to fully break it down after this weekend and deep clean it.

I sell, or put a clean gun into consignment. I don't buy "dirty" guns.
I mean really dirty. A little dust in the barrel, wiping here and there. No big deal.
But, a clean gun catches my attention a lot quicker with a higher chance of closing a sale.

No. My LGS doesn't really sell them. He's got a fair selection of consignment guns. Most of them appear to be "safe queens".
Another reason for guns to frequently end up in consignment.
