Does anyone really use these giant packs

crazy packs or is it just for the LARP?

It's a perfectly natural step in evolution for the Bear Grylls wannabes. Nowadays when you pass by the bus stop, every young hipster looks like he's prepared for a three-day expedition into the wilderness, when all he's really doing is trying to make it on time to his job in the cube farm.

Do people really hike and camp for days on end and use these crazy packs or is it just for the LARP?

Even in the military I don’t think I carried anything bigger than 45L or whatever a sea bag fits

In the marines we have the "main" pack which is similar in size and we usually use it for ruck hikes and to carry everything we are taking. We have also the assault pack which is a jansport size pack that we carry also. Had to carry on else all the gear we were taking (roughly 50lbs), while I had to carry the M240B, with my issued rifle, and along with water

wtf

I have four Kifaru packs, an Exo Mountain 4800 for hunting, Durston 55 for light backpacking trips, and an assortment of day packs, packs I was issued, etc.

wow glad I listened to my dad and didn't go USMC, rifle and a LMG wtf? is that for real
If it's the ruck marches for the sake of doing a ruck march, yes. If it is actual deployments, no the gunner takes his MG and the rest take their rifles. But one does have to be the gunners pack mule and carry his spare parts and extra ammo
