DOJ Says USPS Gun Mail Ban is Unconstitutional

Americans may soon be able to ship handguns through the mail.

This should make some things easier - since UPS requires shipments to go through FFLs for service, warranty, refinishing shops, etc. Even just to get your own guns to you if you are traveling. I wonder if it will put "Ship My Gun" out of business.

Unfortunately, determining whether a codified law is constitutional is not up to the DOJ but to the judiciary. This is an example of executive over-reach. Should make for an amusing legal -show in a dumpster fire.

USDOJ (Pam Bondi, remember?) can opine all they want. They can’t direct the USPS to ignore the statute and start shipping. So, somebody needs to try to ship and be declined by USPS at which time USDOJ can file an action in federal court.

I don’t see that in the playbook, but Bondi needs to make a splash quickly.

Ok great that we can. But who wants to. The USPS is one of thr worst run organizations. I don’t even mail checks yet alone guns.

Remember, the DOJ can’t simply nullify a statute. More importantly, the article warns:

The new position could reshape how American civilians buy, sell, loan, and transport handguns or other “concealable” firearms. If implemented, it would make all of those tasks easier for the average person.

Postal Inspectors are armed and as long as the statute and regs are in place, they can make your day exciting.
