DPM recoil reduction system

Has anyone installed a DPM systems recoil reduction spring setup on any of their guns. Thinking about it for an old HK USP compact and an Sig P220. Wondering if it actually helps or just another gimmick.

Thank you
I have one in my Staccato HD 3.6. Definitely changed the way the gun shoots/cycles. The OEM proprietary single spring system wasn't it for me so I opted for DPM's dual spring system. Having other springs to choose from is quite nice albeit I probably won't have a need for all the springs in the kit. Overall reliability is great as I've used it in three comps, carry it everyday, multiple range trips with friends, and haven't really cleaned the gun like other Staccato snobs. If you shoot different loads, it might be a nice investment to have the different springs on hand.

Is it needed? no
Is it nice to have? yes

Yes I have it on my sig sp2022, shield 40 sw, s&w M&P 2.0 also my xdm elite compact, hellcat pro. I bought it for my 9mm shield as well but did not work well.

I ended up trying them on my p220 - 45acp and my wife’s HK usp compact. I but the mid weight spring in the p220 and it helped to smooth out the action some using federal punch rounds. (It’s one of my home defense guns) but not a big difference. For the HK I used the lightest spring and it made a big difference for my wife. It’s now less snappy and more comfortable for her to shoot.

I think it’s a matter of learning how the system works and using the right spring for the type of shooting you’re using the gun for.

In my case it only didnt work on my shield 9mm . The issue was that it would jam but it wouldnt jam with the oem guide rod and spring. DPM customer support tried to troubleshoot but it was unsuccessful and i had to return the system. The same system worked fine on my shield 40

Since there are constants, like the ammo used and the travel of the slide, there is very little that can be done to make a reduction in recoil.

It’s a gimmick.

Nevertheless, given that the ammo has a certain kick and the distance that is available for tuning recoil is also fixed (slide travel) there is little that can be done to reduce recoil.

The multi-stage spring prevents the slide slamming so hard to the back of the receiver which causes the mozzle to move up less. If you lock your leading arm then you will notice that you can stay on target much easier and because the spring improves the timing of the slide you can hsve a quicker followup shot.
The shorter the barrel the better improvement you get . For example my shield 40 with DPM has less recoil than my shield 9mm without DPM.
If you want to get to the physics of it. Instantaneous power is calculated by the amount of work to be done over the instantaneous time(time which takes to get the job done). The amount of work when a round is fired is the same in both cases because the charge that explodes is the same and releases the same amount of energy and the weight of the slide is the same and it travels the same distance. However the DPM spring system slows down the slide moving back . The formula for instantaneous power is dw/dt in this case dw which is the amount of work done is the same but dt increases so then the instantanous power resulted from the shot decreeases that allows you to handle the firearm better and absorb the recoil.

Its worth it. Just on the increased reliability standpoint. Its nearly impossible to limp wrist and cause a malfunction with a dpm recoil system installed. Fast follow ups and the dot or irons dont dance as much. Im also running it on a radian ramjet setup. So everything just feels softer anyways. But with the dpm spring it feels night and day

I have them in all my glonks and 2.0s and love them. You don't notice a big difference firing single rounds, but the extra muzzle stability under fast fire (like bill drills) is real. I can keep em all in the A zone on a billy a little easier with the DPM recoil assembly. You still have to do the work as far as grip and technique go, but for the hundred or so bucks i think it's worth it.

If you don’t mind me asking, which firearm are you running the Radian Ramjet on? My Sig p365 XL with the ramjet occasionally doesn’t return to battery and I considered trying the DPM system

Ramjet on my gen 5 g45. I never had those issues even on my buddies p365 i helped built but i do notice its really notchy. And hard to rack. Maybe a slide case of limp wrist? Try good lube.. but very weird if anything the dpm will make that happen more because the clamping force to battery is much less than stock.

I don’t think it’s the ramjet or recoil. Either Ammo or Technique. One or the other. I’m running on a Glock 19 reloads or factory? 115 works best in ramjets opposite of competition style guns where you go heavier

For real!!? Just now realizing I haven’t done 115gr through the ramjet on my p365. Only 124gr. It shoots so consistently left that I adjusted the RDO about 2 inches (at 10yd!!) so it would hit on target.
