DUNCAN V. BONTA GOES TO SCOTUS CONFERENCE - California Large Capacity Magazine Prohibition

this is serious stuff but it will not be a joke when california's society turns dystopian
The wealth tax that was proposed resulted in a much of billionaires to flee CA even though it hasn’t passed. I have heard that something like 50% of taxes comes from these ultra wealthy. CA is in deep problems right now in ways it hasn’t been in quite some time. I’m watching it closely as rather than cut spending they will try and come up with ways to tax the middle class to make it up; may be time for me to leave. As much as the gun laws annoy me, I can live with them. I cannot tolerate a huge increase in retirements.

whats the over/under on them actually doing something on the 25th? worth betting a free dinner over?
I’ll take your bet, but I want to define “actually doing something”. :)

On the 25th, they can hold, cert and hold, relist for next session conference, determine that something in Wolford or Hemani requires GVR, deny. There are a lot of “actually doing something’s” on the table. The only thing they can’t do is cert for hearing during this session.

exactly. we are allowing this as citizens

i was gonna have the bet with someone else but i guess i did walk right into that loss with my wording, dang :ROFLMAO:

So, once again, what is your plan to keep that from happening?
well, it is not just sitting here and talking about it on a meaningless to anything forum. some of us are actually out in the public doing things about it. have you even been in any of these rooms when the voting and or these proposals occur?

Definitely leaving the state when we retire. The earnings here are pretty high but the purchasing power is bad.

About 40% of CA's personal income tax revenue comes from households earning 1M+. About 60% of it is collected from the top 5% which are households earning 0.5M+. I don't think the billionaire tax will affect income tax revenue that much, most of the ultra rich are already paying minimum taxes through clever accounting practices. The 5% tax is a one time thing and if you lived in CA as of Jan. 1, 2026 it will apply retroactively. More likely it's challenged on constitutional grounds and dies a quiet death on appeal as it relates to unrealized income. SCOTUS punted on this in Moore v US a few years ago.

And yet, here you are. Now that you’ve articulated what your plan isn’t, how about answering the question…What is your plan?
on a meaningless to anything forum.
If this is so meaningless, why are you here? Are you in search of the meaninglessness in your life? Surely this cannot be part of your plan.
some of us are actually out in the public doing things about it. have you even been in any of these rooms when the voting and or these proposals occur?
Yes. I’ve also weighed in on bills providing authors with information clearly not understood by staff. My suggestions have been incorporated in bills to the advantage of the 2A community. I know how to do this because I worked with the Legislature for a quarter century. I participate in these forums as a means of sharing information and perspective and to gain new knowledge.

So, make me more knowledgeable by answering two questions:
1. If this is a meaningless forum, why are you here?
2. Since you have now proclaimed that you are someone who is “actually out in the public doing things about it”, what is your plan to halt the distopia by by, “remov(e)ing the people who keep making these bills/ laws”.

Now that you’ve articulated what your plan isn’t, how about answering the question…What is your plan?
it actually involves being in the public doing things, organizing people, not talking about it on a meaningless forum (shrugs). just because I am not spewing plans on here does not mean it is not occurring. have you even been in any of these rooms when the voting and or these proposals occur?

yes, meaningless as in fighting these california politicians. this is only, simply, a hangout for gun people and nothing more. I came here, from the old website, to see if i can purchase a couple of guns but just like the old website, people on here are all talk and do not want to actually sell anything.

as for the last part of your post, two things. one, how well is that working out for you, not well, correct, since none of those lawsuits and your "I worked with the Legislature for a quarter century" and your "means of sharing information and perspective and to gain new knowledge" have done anything (lawsuits for a decades, might i add) for anyone on the 2a side, let alone california citizens. lol. second, i have already answered that question

Let's not let the theead drift too much. Perhaps start a new one, MK6M9, if you really want to explore the non-judicial remedies

i ask,
what has been accomplished in our rights and with our California society from this website and/ or people simply talking on it?
i have already seen from your previous post to me that it has seriously done nothing. i mean, which one of those laws or bills has been struck down and/ or removed?
i mean, you " I know how to do this because I worked with the Legislature for a quarter century "-- correct?
and you " as a means of sharing information and perspective and to gain new knowledge " -- for how long now, and yet a bunch of nothing from it?

you could use this website to organize a meetup in real life you know. people have done it already for group shooting ect. but its okay, you are trying your best 🤠
we already have that without this site (shrugs) if any of you were serious about all this, you would have already known this and probably be involved, but i get it, spewing on a website makes anyone feel better. if anyone here was serious, they would already be involved with stuff. now can we just move on alrready ?
