Easiest slide to operate for a female

I've definitely taught women to shoot and rack a glock which is one of the harder ones, I do think it's trickier when it's someone you are in a relationship with. You are right though that it's an issue of confidence vs anything else it's not a matter of inherent strength or ability. Confidence just comes with practice. Now how do you get a woman to practice? It's a dilemma as old as time. Honestly would pay for some lessons as there's something miraculous that happens when it's not you giving the advice. And when she comes back you have to hold back saying " yeah that's exactly what I told you to do"

at the time I sold the glocks for the same reason. I have since bought them back but got her what works for her, no recent pics but here she is with the 1911.

mind you she CAN hit target out to 15 yards with no issues, only issue was racking the slide

take her skeet shooting watching the birds blow up in skeet is addicting as hell; everything else fall in line after that, try steel targets vs paper.
is she a great shot? no but I know when I am not here she CAN hit what she aims at. archery is so that she can take care of business w/o the neighbors getting involved.............

I am looking for the best fit optics ready pistol on the roster for my girlfriend. The main thing is a slide that takes less strength to rack than the average pistol. Any recommendations? I am about to hit the stores and start handling various ones. I am hoping the new HK VP9F fits all of the requirements . I don't think she wants to get her ccw yet so a full size frame is fine. In addition to a smooth slide and being optics ready, I would like a good trigger, and recoil that is manageable for her. I noticed Smith and Wesson just added a 380acp to the roster so I may check it out as well

Since you mentioned optics ready slide, I’m guessing you want an optic, if you have a quality optic that is torqued to spec, she could just rack the slide from there. Push forward with the gun hand while racking the slide by the front of the optic; or she could do the same without an optic too but just grip the slide.

I noticed some have issue racking the slide back because they just hold the gun hand still and they are fighting the recoil spring weight which may be around 17 lb spring weight (give or take).

If she’s still having a hard time, if it’s a quality optic, she could just rack against a pole, bench/table, door jamb, or even side of the bottom of a pair of boots, and call it a day; it shouldn’t be a problem. There are also protective front shield such as the option from tango down for the aimpoint acro p2 to protect the front of the glass and optic so the shield takes the force. She could do the same with a quality set of steel iron sights.

The other part is maybe if it’s still hard for her rack, maybe the gun just needs more breaking in for a less stiff recoil spring. Another thing that could help are aggressive slide serrations.

When it comes to racking the slide sometimes it’s technique too. If you can teach her to hold with the left and push with the right (bent elbows) and also reduce the recoil spring. Those two she should be able to use any firearm. There's little girls shooting 9mm glocks. It's mainly technique IMO

The Beretta Tomcat has the tip up barrel. Nothing easier than that except a wheel gun.

Easiest slide to operate is a revolver or tilt barrel (like found on some Berettas), period.

I would have suggested a resprung Beretta 92 or a 9mm 1911 but no optics ready on the roster.

Shadow system is still available for a few months. I got that for my wife for the same reason. Decent size, lighter spring, optic ready, simple point and shoot. Pretty too
