Review Escondido Fish and Game Association matches (North San Diego County)

Nice private membership club located East of Escondido by Lake Woolford. Non-members can attend matches with match director approval. Matches include rifle and pistol events. Pistol includes action pistol and formal Bullseye matches. Rifle events includes CMP Garand, 2-gun AR15, and Olympic rimfire matches. I have attended the CMP and rimfire events. Well run, welcoming members and friendly RSO. Facilities are nice and well maintained. Hoping to attend the AR15 2-gun matches, but they always fill up quickly with members before open to non-members.

I really wish this place was ran by people that actually shoot the matches. I've said it before but this place has gone downhill since about 2020. 90% of the people that run this place don't even shoot. Unenthusiastic and grumpy old people run this place. The old shoot chairs and match directors actually shot with the members and guests and made it fun.

Damn shame the place I grew up shooting came to this

I know nothing of the club politics, but the rifle matches, bullseye pistol, and action rifle/AR15 matches seem to be run by friendly people based on my experiences there.

I have not participated with the trap/skeet events there so I can't comment on that. In my past experiences with shotgun events long time back at the old Pachmayr's in El Monte and a couple times at Prado, there can be an element of "elitism" per se, but not unfriendly or "grumpy."

Not that I could see, but not being a member I'm not privy to all aspects of the club. It seems to be a fairly small but nice club.

I've done several of their Steel Target matches and they are well run & fun. Good peeps. I've heard of the grumps but havent experienced one yet.

I was a member there for years and shot trap a couple times a week with many of the members and people on the board. Always a great group.
One of the nicest facilities around for sure.
