So I walk into a small LGS and find a Bushmaster Vintage Rare Alum. CAR stock and 3-hole tube in like-new condition and ask for price. $20. F yeah.20260228_082150.webp

As I walk out, I ask if I can dig some boxes out of their trash (for when I do shipping trades), and yup, gives me permission. I find a couple magpul boxes I can use after flipping the box inside out to hide branding, and in one of the boxes. Score! Vintage Rare Rubberized Alum. CAR Stock with 2-hole tube.

Who would of thought. Better me than the garbage crew.
 
After research, I found out the trash bin CAR stock is the og Colt Aluminum (Mold #2) CAR stock, usually issued on XM177E2, GAU-5/A/A, and similar. F Nooice.

Back when I started my impulse C&R Collection in 2021, would always go to my FFL day of delivery to start the paperwork and inspect the guns since it would usually be from gun auctions with very few or low quality photos. One in particular was a very nice Arisaka Type 44 Cavalry rifle that was 95% matching.

Gun was still in bubble wrap and opened it up, only to find the bolt and dust cover missing. Went dumpster diving for the box and found it stuck wrapped and taped to other bubble wrap in the bottom of the box.

It was also garbage day with the driver coming in to empty the cans

Lucky! That 3 hole "B" stock wasn't necessarily Bushmaster. I have the same one that came on my pre ban Eagle Arms (Armalite)
 
Not exactly, but my favorite LGSs all had junk bins with hidden treasures, usually slings & holsters. I picked up a handful of slings, 5, 1 was a Romanian SKS, 1 M1 Garand $10 bucks for the bunch. Another time one shop had a tin (440?) of X39 Chinese AP (metal core?) for $65 bucks. LGS isn't allowed to sell Chinese AP. Scored on decent glass too, PAX
 
Old West Gun Room had a couple rotating rifle stands of C&R rifles, I used to enjoy perusing. Been a couple years, not sure if he’s still open.

I think I know which store you are talking about as I dug through that bag with the magpull boxes and picked up some goodies. I saw that buttock and told myself I had no use for it so let someone else get it for a deal. I did pick up their B5 advanced stock for a 20 bucks and my pick for helmets.

Is it that simple as asking the FFL store owner if you can dig through their garbage? I'm pretty shy so I can't imagine doing that.
 
To any FFLs or Gun Stores reading this thread, if y'all see a influx of gunowners or your customers asking to check out your dumpster. It wasn't me.
