Finally drawing the line on optics… mk12 specifically

I’m not a cloner, but I have all 3 nearly clone correct variations of the mk12. Mainly because the parts were all around me 20 years ago and I liked them. Fast forward many years down the road and I’m thinking of upgrading some optics. I’ve found great deals on the clone correct optics recently but when you compare a modern $1500 scope to a legacy optic I think it would be foolish to spend money on the legacy clone correct stuff. We all have to decide what really matters to us.
 
I also have a Mk12 that *looks* clone correct but it's 6mm. I've been debating getting a clone correct scope, or getting a newer, better Leupold. My thinking is while the older Leupolds are correct, with mine being 6mm it's already incorrect, so I'll keep it close but maximize my benefits.
 
Optics have progressed much more over the last 10~20 years than any other firearm technology. If you actually plan to use the rifles, put modern scopes on them. If they're museum pieces, keep them clone correct.
