Fixed Mag AR

If I have a fixed mag AR, can I put a folding stock adaptor? Just want to make sure since it does make the rifle easier to store and shorter.

Pretty sure that's a no-go from what I remember. OAL is measured from most compact functional configuration possible. Folding stock can technically fire 1 round folded so it's considered operational. I think the law is 30 inches minimum OAL in California.

Not if the rifle is functional and OAL is <30”.

I have a Kel-Tec SU-16CA that folds to 25”, but the rifle is non-operational when folded.

Yea that’s what I figured. I’ll stay away from those

You either need a long barrel or P&W a muzzle device to get to the OAL length. I have a BRN-180 that I had to P&W one of those long JP Enterprise flash hiders to fulfill the OAL requirement.

OP stated a folding stock adapter, not a folding stock. An AR pistol can have a folding stock adapter with a brace.

Federal measures rifle in longest configuration. I.E. with stock out "unfolded" and extended (if collapsible). 26" mimimum

California being California makes you measure with the stock folded and/or collapsed if the rifle can still function/fire in that configuration. 30" minimum
