FUDDS BE FUDDIN’🤡🤣😆

No issue with so-called "FUDD" RSO's. I've seen some real POS a$$clowns at ranges. It takes an a$$hole RSO to keep the a$$holes in check. The RSOs at YSA are no more FUDD than at Sac Valley or Lincoln Rifle Club Dillman Range. If you don't want an RSO watching your back, making sure some a$$clown doesn't do something retarded, like letting their 5-year-old blast a 45 next to your face or their teenager mag-dump a 30 cal AR pistol with no sights behind your head, go shoot in the national forest.

We used to bring any style paper targets to shoot, now any silhouette/human-shaped targets are banned. If you bring them, the RSO makes you fold the head part over backwards or cut it off completely.
This is one of the most motherless 🐐 Made things I've ever read.

The rest of the post is bad as well, but that one really stuck out to me.

Can't shoot a silhouette target? Maybe the RSO's should check if they're little motherless 🐐es haha that's some 100 Test behavior. Seriously? They get their feelings hurt by a target

And to think, silhouette targets are what all law enforcement & CCW holders train & qualifiy with. Go figure. But what really got me was when the range manager actually said shooting projectiles through Jell-O is a “fire hazard.” I wonder if he had a straight face when that came out of his mouth. Well, up to my “spot” in the El Dorado National forest I go!!

Silhouette targets are kinda dumb though, the only thing they are good for is spotting the beginners who can't shoot

yeah better ban the scary targets that hurt boomer liberal feelings
I resent being grouped in the urban (city) boomer crowd. Hell, my wife says I have no empathy or sympathy which is ok with me because it makes life a lot simpler. She was surprised I was so stoic when my parents died. People need to realize that their birth is the beginning of their journey to their death. The only thing I have strong feelings about is the mistreatment of helpless animals.

Actually, I was at YSA Saturday and talked to an RSO about the silhouette target ban, and surprisingly the answer he gave me was understandable. A few years back, shooters started bringing silhouette targets that were actual life-sized images of Hilary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and of course, Donald J. Trump. On the day one person brought their Trump target and another brought their Clinton target - an actual physical fight ensued. Actual mutual combat. At that, management said “no more silhouettes, period.” Again, stupid idiots ruin nice things for everyone else.

So just ban targets of real life people or politicians etc...

I shoot competitions at this range each month (my photo is at YSA) and there are similar rules about steel and target height for the competitions. They state the same reasoning. That farm (pictured above) constantly complains about projectiles flying and landing on their property. As a result, no steel on the right side of the bays unless you are shooting it straight on. This helps prevent ricochets in the direction of that very neighbor. Similar for target heights. We cannot shoot at the ground, and targets in front of certain parts of the bays have to be shorter (so that projectiles have a lesser likelihood of leaving the bay). The left sides of the bays are open to pretty much anything because like you said it's just empty land out that way. Off to the right of the competition bays and nearly in front of the rifle range is a farm, where people do live. Unfortunately, the previous stupidity of people at the range have caused these types of rules and restrictions to be put in place. I'm sure if you lived there, you would probably not want projectiles flying your way.

As for the other aspects like shooting ballistic gel and certain target types. While the reasons given may not be supported by data it is their range and their rules. I can't imagine their insurance wants random people showing up shooting random stuff like ballistic gel. I don't know of any range that will let you do that. Unless maybe you knew whomever runs that range really well and they made an exception.

Would you rather the range be shut down because people somehow keep landing projectiles on the neighbors home (or potentially worse), or have some rules in place to help prevent that and the range stays open?

We lost an awesome outdoor range, gun store & training center years back (Cordova Shooting Center) that had been in place for many many years due to a variety of factors. As crappy and restrictive as that range was on certain things (one shot per second), I would much rather have it still in operation instead of shut down.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your perspective.

I'd rather go to a place with strict rules because who the F- wants to be flagged by a bunch of idiots.

I am totally cool with an RO that will lose his 💩 if a rule is broken.

That range is so cheap and so remote you can access BLM as an alternative.

I will gladly pay more $ for better behavior. Who the f wants to be killed by armed bozos.
