USI Concord currently allows silhouette targets as long as it doesn’t show an actual face of somebody; for defensive purposes. Animal targets are allowed now too; for hunting purposes.I used to love this range honestly. I've stopped going the last few months as I've started to shoot out to 200 and 300 yards, and this one maxes out at 100. Cheaper and much more relaxed than USI in Concord, at that place the RSO's are literally breathing down your neck. At Yolo all the RSO's I've interacted with have been great dudes, big shame that it maxes out at 100.
Was shooting a bolt action. Guy walks up and says I'm shooting too fast, but then walks it back and says "you're good". So I carry on, then another one walks over and says that I'm "rapid firing" a bolt action rifle. Maybe I was a bit too dramatic with my statement of rso's breathing down necks. This was really the only annoying experience I've had with them. I'm buddies with one of the rso's there and he told me he thought it was as ridiculous as I thought it was. No idea when the renovation was.USI Concord currently allows silhouette targets as long as it doesn’t show an actual face of somebody; for defensive purposes. Can you share more about the breathing down the neck at USI? Was this before or after the renovation?
Usually most of the RSO’s (paid staff and volunteer program) are a little more on watch mainly during the uncasing process; and especially if someone seems like a newer shooter, never been there before, is TEACUPPING, wonky on the muzzle discipline, or seems like they already forgot all the rules even though they took the online quiz.

If the conversation didn't start with: "Hey, there, Lee Harvey Oswald, imma need you to take it down a notch..." I probably wouldn't have paid any mind. Was shooting a bolt action. So basically I'm gonna get screamed at lol, I've been working on doubles and rapid fireSo, the SOP there is 1 shot per two seconds. I think it also depends on which RSO you get watching your area. Some tend to be stricter and by the book on the 1 shot per two seconds. Some may count a little faster, so as long as you are on target, not mag dumping, don’t seem like a new shooter, and safe; they may not mind if it’s slightly faster.
The pistol range is another good topic to talk about of that rule, 1 shot per two seconds is not practical to practice for defensive scenarios; and some of them know that. But if the shooter goes slightly faster, but their target looks like birdshot; they are most likely going to say something then.
Yeh, doubles are not ok. It would be nice if they allowed it though. It would be nice to go to YOLO one of these days.So basically I'm gonna get screamed at lol, I've been working on doubles and rapid fire
Well at least the november shoot I should be able to make nice groups lol or try shooting farther away. I'm gonna bring a few HK maybe I can get the P2000 milled in time for that, and PDP ofcYeh, doubles are not ok. It would be nice if they allowed it though. Funnily enough I was shooting a Carcano that day.If the conversation didn't start with: "Hey, there, Lee Harvey Oswald, imma need you to take it down a notch..." I probably wouldn't have paid any mind.
That is pretty funny! You don't reload for that by any chance, do you?Funnily enough I was shooting a Carcano that day.
What John said. Good range with vigilant RSOs. I’m there often.I volunteer at USI. It’s a public range and you should see the folks that come through these ranges…vigilance is very important.
In general, they leave you alone as long as you’re not trying to break the rules.
Yea I reload 6.5, reduced 6.5 loads for vetterli actions, and 7.35.That is pretty funny! You don't reload for that by any chance, do you?
