Funny (or stupid) "oops" range stories thread

First day after orientations at the local gun club. Me and one of the other new guys were shooting skeet and learned that on Winchester 1987 if you adjust the trigger to be to light will fire from sideways pressure.

Was showing him how feeding it worked palmed the action so he would have a clear view.
Slid the action closed and bam. We both froze. He took a photo of exactly how i was holding it to show the rso. Was quite interesting trying to duplicate it. But hey now I can shoot skeet without having to worry about jerking the trigger just tap it lightly sideways.

Wow, that's unfortunate but good to know. Also anytime you "mod" something it's never the same as it was when bone stock.

Reminds me of the video of a RSO who was unloading a shotgun and had it pointed right at the side of another guy about 2 feet away. Yep, he shot that man right in the side at almost point blank rage.

Scary stuff, have to always be safe even when just handling firearms.

I hear you, I don't go to public ranges anymore either. Much safer and funner at a private range or in the desert.

Bummer to hear a woman got shot. RSO's should focus more on real safety than trying to abuse their power.

Never seen RSO, RO correct another RSO, RO on the range. Like they are allergic to each other. Probably knows one can be more douche than the next.

FT3 has a RSO, old white guy with long white beard or facial hair that loves to get upon a Asian shooters business than his fellow skin colored people.

It’s gonna be a forever inside joke because the two Hispanic RO’s literally were standing a few feet behind us saying things like “we heard the rapid fire over here” loudly and noticeably like they’re trying to intimidate us lmao. Fking psychos on a power trip. We went out of our way to not break any rules and it made them even crazier

First time taking my son to the outdoor range in San Jose (Metcalf). We had side by side stalls at the 100yrd targets. I brought my new to me Ruger .22lr. It has a 2-10X scope that I had it dialed up to 10x to sight it in. Took a few shots and nothing on paper. Took a few more and nothing! Then my son says "Dad stop shooting at my target". At 10x I was shooting one lane over. Well needless to say I told the kid "this is between you and me only". Lol

He's talking about when I went to the Angeles range with a local friend as a visitor a few months ago and brought my military kit (not even all of it lol) and we brought maybe ten handguns and the RO's were being psycho hovering around us and trying to come up with rules violations lol. They also freaked out that I had a holstered CCW. Not a gun at the gun range LOL

From the Angeles Shooting Range fun police rules:

3. No concealed or holstered guns are allowed unless they are carried by law enforcement personnel, who must always display their IDs or badges. There is no drawing or shooting from a holster on the public range. There are no exceptions.

I get not drawing and shooting from holster. While appendix carrying you could accidentally blow a hole clean through your hog and vaporize a testicle while drawing.

As far as CCW goes, if they can't see it they can't say anything. Kinda the whole point of being concealed.

Yeah glad I have way better options here rather than the mouth breather Angeles range

By their logic Pasadena PD that shoot each other are allowed to CCW but not someone with a license. Lol their management must be actual invalids

I had a black polo and blue jeans … the ultimate contractor outfit. Didn’t have the kawaii jpop fit tho lol

I’m sure we just had a weird experience but I’ve never had anything like that happen at other ranges. I used to shoot at Livermore and concord outdoor ranges and Tracy indoor and never had anything like that happen

I have many range stories but the one that stands out the most is, a couple of lanes down from me, I guy turned around with his firearm after what he assumed was firing all the rounds in the magazine, and pulled the trigger while facing the wrong way....thankfully his gun was pointed down and the bullet struck the concrete floor. Unfortunately, the bullet fragments hit someone a few lanes over and caused injury. Be safe out there, folks.

Wild that people just don't buy a bulk bag of chamber flags.
Shoot, eject mag, then insert flag; not that difficult.

I once saw a guy shooting at a silhouette target at seven yards. Not one shot was even on the paper.
