Ive been going to the range a fair bit lately for just handgun and was struggling the first couple trips, It's been probably 10 years since ive gone shooting and even then wasn't very good. I've only been clay shooting and rifle for awhile. When I first went to the new USI setup, new to me. the range guy asked me if i was new to shooting handgun and I said well it's been 10 years, so yes, Ive only been trap/skeep or shotgun for awhile.

At the end of my first session a couple weeks ago, the same range master came by, looked at my target, and said yeah, clearly you're a shotgun shooter. I laughed and looked for ways to improve. After getting some really good feedback here from another thread I really started to think about everything in my grip and trigger pull broken down to almost every aspect of it and it has helped a lot. It's not great yet by any means but it's much better than a couple weeks ago. atleast I'm sorta grouping. Still working out some bits but im pretty happy with it so far, even in today's run, I was able to tighten it up immensely by the 3rd session.

So thank you to all that provided some guidance to get better and what to look for, and support. That's why I support this site.

Great work! Dry fire until you really get comfortable with your pistol. Feel the trigger slow and steady to know how it behaves. The takeup, the wall, the break, and the reset.

Looks like you can also put more focus on your support hand to reduce drifting to the left.

I meant to ask about this dry fire before actually and forgot. Is the idea to click and rack each time? Is there an easier way or alternative for striker fire practice or is that it?

Or just get a DA/SA or DAO..

I’m a broken record at this point. I have a type and I’m proud of it.

Dry fire can mean a lot of things, just depends on what you are looking to improve. To get a feel for your specific trigger you can rack it, but you can also do a lot with just pressing the trigger and pressing it hard. You can play with your grip and how you press the trigger to get to a point where the sights just barely move. This is much easier to see with a red dot but the main thing is don't be dainty, you want to put as much effort as you would in live fire so press hard. You can also dry fire target transitions and you don't even need your finger on the trigger at all
