Apparently, they aren't buying them if you saw them sitting on the shelf. Asking ain't getting. There's dreaming, and then there's reality. Plenty of better options on the roster now that weren't on there before, when Glock was one of the best options. Objectively speaking, the M&P is a superior gun to a Gen 3 Glock. And it just gets better from there with the PDP, VP9, Echelon, and P320.

I don’t disagree with any of your analysis on other guns being better, but they’re easily attainable and Glocks are not. Those 1500-1800 Glocks are new on the shelf, replacing others from 1300-1600 that sold. People are being crazy right now

huh? wut? You're kidding, right? Do you not know what happens to Glocks on 7/1? If anything, prices would go up, not down. But realistically, people have had since late last year to FOMO overpay for a Glock. And there are plenty of them available. So there probably won't be much of a change.

You have no idea if prices will go up or down. None of us do. This is not an unknown thing happening on 7/1, it’s well known info and very well might be priced into the market already. Sometimes people even OVER react to news, spike prices, then when the event happens it actually goes the other way to correct an overreaction. Kind of like the “buy the rumor, sell the news” saying in investing. It’s a crapshoot.

Not a bad time to get rid of any you may not want but try to not be one of the dudes thinking they are worth some exorbitant amount when they really aren’t.

I PPTed away an ODG 19 I bought new for a reasonable price and a regular 19 I got used for cheap. Shot a couple mags through the new one and realized why I sent my other one off to juggernaut as I don’t love the stock feeling.
Replaced with a juggernaut modded 19 done just the way my carry one is set up and put the rest of the funds in to other platforms.

I think people trying to cash in majorly are being a bit ty.

Come now. It's not that much of a crap shoot. It's not like nobody has any idea what will happen. Gen 3 Glocks are banned and discontinued. So yes, they will be worth a little more than what they were before. But that doesn't mean we just throw common sense and reason out the window. There are many newer models on the roster that are just as reliable as the Glock. So prices won't go that crazy.

I feel like Glock didn’t panic all that much about this ban because it was GREAT for business to offload inventory and explode hype for the new models. If it was simply an announcement for a new lineup, People would simply wait for the new lineup. They would likely hold off on purchasing old models.

Right? Not only did Glock not panic, they played it perfectly. Making all the old inventory seem priceless while they move on to the next Generation. It's genius actually.

By all means, that's obvious. I'd wait until after 7/1 just to maximize the psychological effect of the ban. But don't expect to get an arm and a leg for what you got, especially when yours appear to have a lot of aftermarket parts that aren't functionally better than factory parts.

It’s only worth what someone will pay. If someone is dumb enough to pay $100,000 for a base Toyota Camry let them

Shadow systems are subject to the same ban and their prices are going down. The value of perception!!

this market makes zero sense to me. Especially when you can get a better version clone like an MR920 for sub $1K and to take a Glock and build it to that spec would cost you $1,500. Glocks are reliable Chevy's, thats it.

Yeah, there’s newer stuff out there, but realistically, how much does it actually move the needle in terms of performance shooting?

For now, I’m just saving my $$$ for a 2011… or at least a 2011 clone.

I agree. But I bet you wouldn't spend north of $600 for a used Gen 3 Glock if you didn't already have one. Certainly not $1000 for a bone stock Gen 3. I got all my Glocks used for $300-$400. But if I didn't have any, I'd go get an M&P 2.0 rather than buy a Glock from a gouger. Gen 3 Glocks are solid and reliable, but so is the M&P.

A fair valuation of a used Gen 3 Glock is 1.5x to 2x what a used Gen 3 Glock was before they were discontinued and banned. So that would be $500-$600. Not the crazy "mentally disabled" prices that people are asking for. It's not like there aren't literally millions of Gen 3 Glocks out there. They aren't rare by any stretch of the imagination. They are a dime a dozen. And people wanting to sell them for more because they work with switches are extra delusional.

I’m in my late 50s. I have a lot of reps in my Sig DA/SA and Glock firearms. Like you, don’t want to or see the need to invest training time into new platforms. Range toys, sure, happy to try new things but stick with what I know. Also, rarely does anything new make that much of a difference in terms of performance. I get excited every SHOT show and then usually feel blah afterwards. Short of hand held phasers from Star Trek the size of a pistol becoming a real thing, I don’t expect there to be anything new that will get me excited.

They aren't "going" for crazy prices if someone isn't buying them. You can ask whatever price you want for anything. It doesn't mean it is worth that price or if anyone will buy it. Which is what is happening, most of the Glocks being offered at stupid prices are not being sold.

Held a G20 V at the gun show in Ontario a while back. Nice but $1500. I am a Gen3 fan. Tried a Gen 4 and sold it right away.
