Gun belt recommendations for uspsa?

Been slowly getting into uspsa recently just for fun, I doubt I'll ever pick up grand master but I'd like to get set up so I can just have a go bag to practice or go to the meet, I've been using a Kore belt and some Blackhawk magazine pouches, I'd like to get something similar to a duty belt setup with an inner and outer belt, I'd like to have a dump pouch and first aid bag on, so something that would work with molle straps. I'm running a Sig 320 X5 with an EPS, other than that it's stock. Any recommendations are appreciated, I'd be super happy to get a whole rig for 300, but if it's worth it to spend more for some reason I'm open to it.

You don't need a dump pouch for competition. It sounds like you want to run a tactical setup, which is fine, but it'll get in the way. Are you looking for two setups or one that will do both? If you do a tactical setup it's different. They'll use a buckle system vs the velcro. You don't need to spend a lot of money, but they're different.

A ghost belt or whatever belt you want and a good holster. These days, the bigdogsteel ones are good with retention. I'll have a review of it myself soon.

Not so much a need as a want, mostly for those stages where you have to grab your pistol and magazines off the table, but I guess that's why people use magnets, I'm not really all that comfortable about using them yet.

I'm curious to hear how you like that holster!

For belt, you'll be fine with that DAA premium I linked, or the DAA lynx, CR Speed, or Shooters Connection. They're all fine.

For holster, I wouldn't spend more than the one I linked there, if you're shooting prod or CO. You can replace one of the screws on the holster with this: https://www.mcmaster.com/5720K45/ to give it a really nice lock/unlock system.

For pouches, I've used both the ghost 360 and daa XiP and much prefer the daa xip for ease of adjusting. I use 3x of the XiP, with a magnet on the 1st one. I use the magnet to bring my 'make ready' mag to the start, and to hold my 'unload and show clear' mag at the end.

I'm starting to look into this too. I love gear, so I've been doing a lot of YouTube/online forum diving for setting this up. Firstly, you can start competing with what you already have now. That's the main advice I see, but I love gear, so I ignored it. It is sound advice. Especially as you start out, you might not know what preferences you have or where you need your gear to support you the best way it can. So do some matches/training, and then evaluate what gear you need to better support you.

I have a Kore for my tactical belt. They also make a competition belt if you wanna just use the same inner belt and swap for tac vs comp belt. I ended up getting this- https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/daa-ratchet-belt It's a similar ratcheting system, which is really nice. The comp belt was out of stock most places when I ended up buying this, and the Kore is pricier compared to most.

I would really advise against a dump pouch or first aid on the belt for comp. You mentioned the table starts, but if you throw them back in a dump pouch for the start, sure. But how quickly will you be able to get them out for reloads? While moving? That's where the magnets can really come in handy. For the first aid, just keep that in the range bag/cart. Having it on you vs in a bag near by will save you a potential of....15 seconds? 30? But the extra weight can really slow you down, throw off your balance.

Do you know what division you wanna do? LO? CO? Both? If you wanna do CO or both, you'll need a non-race style holster. The DAA Max holster and the Hydra P have caught my attention.

Late to the party, but Lead Devil is all I use for both duty and competition. Their 1.5" works great with competition mag pouches and will never come loose like some of the wrap around systems do. I've been wearing their 1.75" belt on the range every day for the last six or seven years. Super comfortable, well built and they last forever!

I have been going in the opposite direction with my rig. I have 2 DAA lynx belts with XIp pouches and related holsters and haven’t used them in a while. I’ve been favoring a good ol’ fashioned heavy leather belt, Comp-tac universal holster and a couple mag pouches when shooting a pistol and a single mag pouch with a 20rd back-up mag when shooting PCC. Race rigs are heavy and uncomfortable and we wear them all day.

I don’t see the use of the fancy gear when draw speed isn’t really a factor. The only sport where that matters is Steel Challenge, in USPSA I rarely have to draw and shoot at the buzzer. Instead, the beeper goes off, I draw and then move to the shooting position. How fast I draw has zero impact on my time in this scenario. As for reloads, I do them when moving between shooting positions, so how fast I can grab a mag isn’t a major factor, too. As for PCC, I use 45rd mags so I never need to reload unless one is mandated. The spare 20rd mag is for those “Oh !” situations; more than that is just getting silly.

Double Alpha has a sale now.. I’m waiting for henning group has their sale to pick up a hangar. I think that’s pretty crucial to have consistency with your draw.

I do agree you don’t need a super fast draw.. ~1 sec is good. But getting a consistent starting grip is hard.
