How very un-American to say such an awful thing. I find it strange when people say they support the 2nd Amendment, but, not the rest of the constitution. Specifically, the Eighth Amendment in this example;

“Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

The Founding Fathers added this rule because they were genuinely afraid of what a powerful government might do to people. Having seen the brutal, often torturous punishments used by British kings—like the horrific sentence given to Titus Oates—they wanted to make sure the new U.S. government could never inflict that kind of suffering. Thomas Jefferson believed punishments must be proportional to the crime rather than vindictive or barbaric. George Washington personally witnessed the brutality of the British army. During the revolutionary war, he saw captured American soldiers get tortured and executed by British forces.

I've been homeless as both a child and an adult, through no fault of my own. Everyone is two bad days away from being on the street.

I'm glad I wasn't shipped off to die like you suggest, and instead was able to stay a productive member of society.
