I don’t know that either of those two materials is used in making batteries. They are both dry lubricants with lower coefficients of friction than Teflon. And they can easily handle extremely high heat and extremely high pressures. And they are both chemically inert. For instance, they are used to lubricate artificial joints like knees and hips that are implanted into the human body.
Other uses are the inclusion of them in greases and oils. And they are also used at high concentrations in assembly lubes (pastes) when assembling engines.
Also, the particle size is so small that they can work their way into even the tiny pores of polished metals where it stays, providing much needed lubrication.
