I'm trying to remove the factory stock on my Benelli M4 EXT to install a Chisel Machining stock. I'm running into an issue to remove the stock, and I haven't seen documented anywhere.
The gun is California-compliant, so the factory telescoping stock was locked from the factory and is not adjustable. I removed a set screw I found inside the stock near the recoil pad post, but the plastic butt still won't rotate or slide off the receiver extension tube. I also noticed the stock release button doesn't depress all the way - it only goes about halfway down before stopping, unlike a standard (non-CA) M4 button. I've attached a photo comparing the two - you can see mine has a small hole/recess in the center where the standard button is a solid cap. I'm guessing this is related to how the stock was locked out for CA compliance, but I wanted to check if anyone knows.
Appreciate any guidance - happy to send more photos if helpful.
