How do you organize your handguns?

How’s it going friends? I’m still new here so sorry if this has been answered before.
So,
How do you guys organize your handguns with both weapon lights and optics in your safe?
95% of my pistols have dots and lights and they are lying around everywhere taking up shelf space.
I have pistol hangers but they won’t clear optics.
Every organizer I see online has images of handguns with no weapon lights.
Should I just remove the lights and use an organizer off Amazon? Put them back on when I take them out?
Yes I know I don’t need so many lights but I have them already so yeah.. and I have a second safe. Don’t want a third. Just need more shelf space.

Any solutions or product recommendations that may suit my needs would be very much appreciated!

I also use the foam racks. packs them together neatly. The rod barrel method took up a more space. I also use socks on all my guns to prevent oopsie scratches.

Stacked on the top shelf so half of them fall out when I open the door. Or scattered throughout the house on any flat surface I can find. Or on the work bench if it's one I'm working on. Some are in bags under the workbench as the next project.

Most of my safes have these racks. They are high quality and easy to put together. That being said, they are also pretty damn pricey so I always dread when it is time to setup another safe. For larger safes I can usually fit 3 of the 8-slot racks on each shelf (depending on the size of the pistol they are holding).

One SR9c, 9mm, organized in TV/family room, top of bookcase. For pre-bedtime boogie-men or other unwelcome visitors, no lockbox, no PIN. Family doesn't even know it's there, and they can't reach it anyway.

Several more in safe but not organized. What's the point? They are in the safe. Can't get to them quickly anyway.

I use the foam one. They work great.

I agree with you for the most part as I have maverick 88s in different areas of my home for those that want to FAFO. But in my case, I have a very expensive safe (expensive to me $5k) and I in particular like my safe to look like a mini showroom, as lame as some may think, I enjoy opening to take a peek and crack a creepy smile from time to time lol.
I have been taking notes and suggestions from users here on pistol organization and sorta got my safe in order. I only wish I got the 6ft model of my safe. Would make things so much easier.
So far I moved things over to another safe.
I bought a 12 pistol rack by savior. And removed some long guns I had in the back and lowered my top shelf down.
The peg board is just for sample. I’m planning to buy a larger and cut to size. And hang magazines (which I also have laying around everywhere) and anymore pistols I may buy I can hang as well.
Tbh I may end up trading in my safe at the dealer for a larger one.

My grandkids, 2 and 5 years old, are here right now on a weekend visit, running around the house, sometimes opening drawers and cabinets, looking for "toys".

I can't leave anything lying around unlocked (or reachable).

Thinking about buying one of those bookcases with a hidden/trick panel, or a mantel clock with a hidden pistol compartment, for the family room.

But the pistol I keep on top of a 6.5-foot bookcase in the family room is quickly/easily reachable (for me anyway, not wife or kids), so that works as the "front door" gun for now.

Cool. I finally got around to shooting my set up. The product I used employs plastic rods with clamping washers. This let me install a full rack, then down-size a second rack to fill the back wall. The excess of the second rack built the side wall.

I suspect most of these racks can also be altered.

I use hangers for some, and for others that will stand on their own, upside down I do that. Some others I just lay them down on their side and I do have some of those little gun racks for wheel guns as well.

For handguns, I use Armory Rack handgun racks from RJK.

I've got 3 of them on the top shelf of my safe and they do a great job. At $40 each, it's a no-brainer. For rifles, I took out the shelves and what I call the Castle Ramparts for rifles and use Rifle Rods to organize. I'd love to see a rack that can hold rifles one up and one down so I could stack more in the safe. As it is now, I'm probably wasting a bunch of space with barrels up in the air... and a lot of air around them!

One other trick I use is to go to a Dollar General or similar and get rubber doorstops. These are great to support rifles and make sure with the Rifle Rods that they stay vertical, since many buttstocks aren't at a 90* angle.
