Where do you spend the bulk of your Firearm-Related Dollars?

Started collecting these last 6 months but I practice with all my firearms.

Started to buy ammo and got my FFL 03.

Realize I have too many firearms to practice within a two hour to four hour time slot to be effective.

Decided to rotate certain firearms to practice with.

Bought some steel targets.

Next really focus on mechanics and drills with a timer. Jot down results and get better.

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.
 
In the past it was on training and shooting. Starting in 2025, when CA decided it wanted to ban Glocks, I decided that if there is anything I might want to own I should buy it now, just in case. If they can do it to Glocks, they can do it to any other firearm. So, last 18 months it’s been collecting. Very soon, I will be done with this and be focused on shooting and training and stocking up on training ammo for the inevitable shortages that will happen down the road. Funny thing is, if I lived in a gun friendly state, I would for sure own much fewer firearms.

Girl, same! I’ve finally narrowed my collection down after almost 15 years lol Nothing even peaks my interest outside of my collection now. Only thing left to do is train…
 
things are ugly right now, so stocking up. I do need to make time for actual training but at this point I am loading up firearms wise , mags, new rigs, holsters, cases. seeing what I am keeping with me vs what I might lend the liberal family members who don't believe in gun because well I do care about them.

Don’t forget ammo. There will be another ammo shortage at some point. Each paycheck, I pick up a box of 22 LR in the 300-500 round size.

Gave up on .22 after it reached 10 cents per rounds. I have components to reload 9mm .45 and 12ga. On top of my stash
.223/5.56 I keep 1k at all times

But seriously anyone starting off a collection should be buying guns and ammo. CA just wants to make it harder and harder and more expensive constantly. Build your collection now before its too late.

And yes go train with them also. Hope you get my point im making

I get it. 22’s are much more than they used to be. Still, cheaper than the others (I don’t reload).

If I recall, the CA attorney general was talking about re-instating the freezing of the list in 2028. Not sure where I saw it or how legit it is. However, as I mentioned above, just gonna get what I want now so I no longer need to worry. Fortunately, I’m almost done. Being older, there is less and less I want to own.

it's not just the price for me, add to it the limited capability of the .22 , good for plinking and very small game, not so much in SHTF scenario.

Huh. I think a 10/22 takedown and a few thousand rounds of .22LR would be great for SHTF. Much easier to hunt small game than large game in my area of SoCal, and a lot quieter (if only NFA weren't a problem in CA). I can easy pack several thousand rounds and hike with it; there's no way I'm traveling far with several thousand rounds of .223 if I'm on foot. Same with 9mm; I could only carry so much, and there are other important things to take. So while the others make sense, so does .22LR, IMO.

Plus, I'm quite certain I can quickly teach anyone to shoot .22LR, because there's virtually no recoil that any adult can't handle.

If I can stay around my home, then there's not an issue of ammunition, of course. But if I'm forced away from it, I won't be dragging a wagon for ammo. I'd be more concerned about potable water and equipment to prevent exposure and the other nature stuff that will kill me and my loved ones.

Hopefully, my soon to be Eagle Scout son will be with me, though, because I've never cleaned and dressed a squirrel or bunny before.

I recommend Dawn to clean and really small clothes to dress the bunny...............

valid points, but if bugging out you need as much firepower as you can to make it to the next destination .
