54% of people living in the United States between the ages of 16 and 74 read below a sixth-grade level. That is 130 million people.I've been to the BYD complex in Guanjo.
Yeah any American thinking America is somehow going to recapture manufacturing from China is woefully ignorant the China US business partnership is entirely predicated on American ingenuity and Chinese willingness to work horrific miserable conditions for low pay doing dumb repetitive tasks while they build a massive automation moat and give all their citizens a bare minimum subsistence lifestyle they can sustain probably for centuries.
Trumps plan leaves Americans begging to be paid less, without any safety nets, substandard health care and an education morasse in science and technology. The point of tariffs is sneak a new tax in across consumption of goods to fund the tax cuts. The tariffs themselves aren't nearly heavy enough to offset the cost of living variance so unless Americans are willing to accept a significant reduction in quality of life manufacturing will not be returning for anything but the most niche of products. Anyone who believes otherwise is just not doing the math or incapable of recognizing it.
Strategically it seems clear to me that this is a rich picking the bones clean of meat before they abandon ship not an attempt to right the ship.
Was at a yacht mooring area eating lunch the other day and almost every table conversations among the yacht owning brunchers were about recently purchasing real estate in Greece or Portugal and how they're making their escape moving their assets etc. It was shocking to just be sitting at lunch hearing multiple tables having these conversations, but it's not unexpected that's how it's going down right now.
The real question is how much longer can the American consumer stomach this before they realize what's being done to them, and will they recognize the alliances that are enabling it.
34% of US adults scored at the lowest level on a numeracy assessment, struggling with basic addition and subtraction. I would argue that you would have a monumental time trying to explain the macro economic environment, and how it affects them in the long and short term. 37% of the country can't come up with $400. I see us going over a cliff long before a large percentage of the population comes to any sort of epiphany.
