I need to sell an AR upper thru PPT. Best FFL to go for this in Bay Area?

I have a buyer that want to buy an AR upper receiver. Where should I go in Bay Area for the cheapest PPT fee? How much do they charge?

You don’t need to PPT an upper. Seriously don’t know why so many people think the barrel back ground check started already it’s not till 2027

These laws don’t stop. Agreed with the first part, no idea about a new background check in place

I believe you technically need to have the transaction at an FFL where you fill out a AB 1263 Acknowledgement form. That's the legal way ;)

Any transfer of a barrel within CA has to go through an FFL. It has nothing to do with the background check. (it's still not a PPT, though)

That's crazy, when did that start? Apparently regular sale is "breaking the law" now

Just to clear up some misinformation in this thread: the July 1, 2027 date is when the eligibility/background check and DOJ electronic reporting requirements begin. The requirement that a firearm barrel transfer be completed in person through a licensed dealer is already in effect as of January 1, 2026. See PC 33700. This isn't a firearm PPT/DROS, which may be why some dealers are confused about what is being requested.

Promoting or encouraging illegal activity is not permitted on this site. Discussing laws, questioning them, or explaining how they apply is fine. Telling members to ignore the law, suggesting ways to circumvent it, or encouraging conduct known to be unlawful is not. Whether someone believes a law is likely to be enforced does not change this rule.

Just so you know, guys, we have to remove any posts that might mention doing the opposite of what you’re supposed to be doing.

You are responsible for your own thing, but just keep in mind we have to tell people the proper way to do things

To answer Ops’ question, just go ahead and go to the FFL and request to make the transaction. They don’t actually have to fill out any forms. You just have to be at the FFL and they have to see. It’s pretty much it. What you end up doing is what you end up doing, but you’re at least there

Im not sure why my comment was deleted. There is no legal reason to go to an FFL to PPT an upper. Uppers can be shipped to your house from any online retailer thusly there is no reason you have to go to an FFL to sell one to a private seller.
