Oh, is this the same dude? I saw the post when I stopped for gas on my road trip Sunday; I thought out a very good reply and by the time I stopped again, it was gone.

This is false. You can buy an off roster gun from a non LEO. Many non LEOs have off roster guns for sale and ppt between them and you is totally legal.

And this is who they be giving open carry permit to?!?! California needs up the BSIS/CCW test to SAT level standards please….. (including gun law, self-defense law, ownership rules, regulations, etc)

At least then the background check will be quicker since you need a pass first before even going thru the process of getting an CCW!

If you’re willing to study an SAT level exam, you deserve to CCW if you pass.

BIG SELLING POINT: Once you pass, full purchase availabilities! On-rooster and Off-rooster

If you don’t pass and only have the basic FSC, on-rooster stuff only. And this should also be applied to LEO. If LEO doesn’t pass, LEO doesn’t get off-rooster stuff. But LEO should be passing since they uphold the law so automatically include but must be renewed (same for everyone else)

2nd Amendment allows to bare arms.
This way, it allows everyone to bare arms. But also allow the qualified few to own cooler things! (But that’s because they have cleared all the barriers. AT LEAST THERES A PATH. Right now, there’s only the LEO method)

So how did the person non-LEO seller get the off-rooster gun in the first place? most likely LEO (a Leo’s used stuff which is typical for someone to buy something and hate it, not talking about some weird purchase agreement)

Or they did an “out of state transfer to a direct-relative” (siblings, mom, dad, and grandparents)!
No cousins, aunts, uncles, etc but that’s not something I know too much so you explain it buddy!

You realize our freedoms aren’t actually freedoms
They are restricted right?

We already doing it to freedom of speech…you realize even free speech is limited to “harm principle”. You can’t lie or make up something to harm someone.

Property ownership is based on wealth which is directly correlated (to some degree) a person’s intelligence so that in-itself creates a barrier of entry.

Voting is based on the collective opinions of the masses with the account for regions (states/counties/cities) so a person’s freedom only matters if the collective masses also agrees.

Only two ways to get rid of the off-rooster BS, turn California into Texas with complete zero control of the 2nd for pretty everyone (homeless to your school teacher).

Or create a higher barrier to entry for those who qualify but then give them full access. Not half a** access! At the end of the day, most Californian don’t care about guns so begging for change is a waste of time.

Just make it so it’s harder for us to enter (that’s fine but once we get in, don’t give them a reason to tell us no.

Don’t mistake individualized freedom with collective freedom. As a group, we have collective freedom.
But individually, we around bound to each other via an unwritten social contract so there’s no individualized freedom.

Either that, or the gun is an older model that preceded the roster, but wasn’t grandfathered in ie the Ruger P89 I picked up earlier this year from an LGS. Granted the P89 was discontinued in 2007, before the roster was instituted, it’s still considered off-roster since it doesn’t have the required “safety” features.

There are three major sources of legal off-roster guns entering California: LEO, intrafamily interstate (meaning parent/grandparent to child/grandchild from outside California), and new resident (meaning gun owner from out of state moves to California). I don't know any accurate statistics of how those three sources compare, but none of them are negligibly small. The ones that I see in the marketplace seem to be all from intrafamily and new resident, but then I'm not very interested in recent models.

You asked to explain: Easy, of California resident Alice has a child/grandchild/parent/grandparent Bob who lives in another state, then Bob buys a gun there, brings or ships it to an FFL Fred in California, who processes the roster-exempt DROS and after 10 days gives it to Bob.

There are other sources that are legal but less common: C&R (guns made before 1976 are now eligible), guns that used to be rostered but have fallen off (Glock, H&K USP, ...), guns that entered as not semi-auto and were converted (many AR pistols, revolvers that single actioned, SSE for pistols). And no, members of the military buying them is not a legal source.

I went there for 6 months for work and I feel the same way buddy. But reality is, California is California hence the “commie-fornia” comment.

I love California since I’ve been here all my life.

But just because I’ve lived in a house all my life, it doesn’t mean the house doesn’t need a remodel!

It’ll be compromised (can’t add more room or my SQFT) because I’ll have to account for existing structural stuff, run up my bill, and give me a bunch of headaches. But at the end of the day, I get to enjoy it to the fullest.

California isn’t even willing to compromise on the paperwork stuff…
That’s not limiting rights, it’s stopping personal rights!

Town I lived in didn’t even have codes haha about an hour south east of DFW. Basic rule was don’t burn down your neighbors stuff. Don’t with how water flowed to the Trinity river. Otherwise have at.

You know… Glocks used to be on on roster. Actually they still are. But soon they won’t be. Those were not LEO. Those were not Intrafamial and those were not new residents from out of state. CZ’s used to be on roster such as the P-01. Then POOF. No longer on roster. Therefore. It is a non roster purchase. From a normal citizen. Surprise. There is also off roster purchases through single shot only mods to coveted 2011’s.
