SSE 2.0 accounts for a decent volume of off roster guns too. More than you’d think. It’s become a lot more common knowledge in the last 10 years than before.

Not my problem. Not how conviction works either haha. From my reading of the law it’s not allowed but they argue that sworn members applies to military members. I’ll leave that for a lawyer to decide.

Legally, I don’t have a conviction either. Pretty sure the FFL would be who gets in trouble

So how did the person non-LEO seller get the off-rooster gun in the first place? most likely LEO (a Leo’s used stuff which is typical for someone to buy something and hate it, not talking about some weird purchase agreement)

Or they did an “out of state transfer to a direct-relative” (siblings, mom, dad, and grandparents)!
No cousins, aunts, uncles, etc but that’s not something I know too much so you explain it buddy!

They could have gotten it from a LEO, from a family member, they could’ve moved from another state and registered it here, bought it while it was on roster and now it’s off, bought it before the roster, etc. Any of those would have to be the ORIGIN of the gun landing in CA but once it’s here anyone can sell to any non prohibited person and there are MANY off roster guns sold by non-LEOs so your post was very misleading and might make a newbie think it’s illegal to buy one from a non-LEO. I was just clarifying so the correct information is here for people who want to know.

Town I lived in didn’t even have codes haha about an hour south east of DFW. Basic rule was don’t burn down your neighbors stuff. Don’t with how water flowed to the Trinity river. Otherwise have at.

I’m pretty sure you can find a plot of land somewhere in California big enough and far enough away from people! But that’s tough!

I don’t need that, just wanna own whatever I wanna own and take it to the range on the weekend and have some laughs with the bois about the stupid money we all spend

The increase of tax revenue can go to rebuilding schools. Imagine selling a staccato for $3000 and the $500 went to the state instead of the private party.

But I want that money to go directly to school funding!

Not sure what they’re looking for… otherwise very good place, owner is cool, employees are friendly, reloads are great and cheap, etc - I wouldn’t hesitate to support them but found it odd they check every gun before you go into the range

They’re pretty cool. They screwed up my DROS and I had to wait extra days but at least it was fixed.

I saw those tables but didn’t realize it’s to check your guns.. and what are they checking for

KW defense asks if you have steel penetrator ammo if you are shooting 5.56/.223 but other then that dont care

Have/had (not sure anymore) one of those in OC, went in saw the idiots finger F-ing everyone’s guns so I left. If that is your policy i’ll go else where. Some part time gun counter employee doesn’t need to pretend to be a gunsmith or a cop and finge F- my guns while interrogate me. -I bought off-roster guns before there was a Roster. If you were born before 1978, you could buy before the Roster came into effect.
-Then, I bought some semi-autos through the SSE provisions of law (not a “loophole”) before that was foreclosed.
-When my Dad died, I got all of his.
-My grandkids will each wind up with a bunch of off-roster guns through inheritance and not spend a cent.

Folks relocating into CA from out-of-state can bring off-roster guns with them.

That’s a short, off-the-top of my head list, so the issue isn’t as simplistic as you’ve framed it.

Plus all the off roster guns coming into the state via military purchases at the FFL's that are selling to active duty military

The big issue at The Range is they want the semi guns unloaded and locked back (except for holstered CCW). Apparently, some folks like to roll with loaded guns in the bag, then forget they’re loaded on the line, and Bang!

I’ve never had them question a gun’s provenance.
