My wife finally got her grandpas revolver back from her aunt after decades.
The only identifying marks on it are on top of the barrel pictured.
Front of the cylinder measures 9.12mm. .38 maybe?
I checked all the AI apps and all they say is “old revolver” of some sort.

Your best bet is to get a good high rez phot of the markings on the top.

Because photos get downscaled here, it's kind of low quality

I think it says Worchester, and the date of April (which would be patents and able to trace a bit)

Which would mean Harrington & Richardson (my first guess seeing it) or possibly Iver Johnson

DM me if you want to send me a high rez photo and I can try manipulating the contrast a bit to see if I can make out enough to find it. I love a good puzzle.

Nope, I was wrong.

Appears to be Iver Johnson based on the grip. Having a bit of trouble finding that exact round butt profile

Took a pic with my Google AI it says it is and H&R Top Break 32 S&W. Could you supply pic of other side to help verify.

This looks like a Forehand & Wadsworth Double Action top-break revolver, very likely the No. 38 in .38 S&W, made in Worcester, Massachusetts in the late 1880s.

Harrington & Richardson Safety Hammerless / H&R Hammerless Large Frame First Model, almost certainly chambered in .38 S&W. That puts manufacture roughly 1899–1904. Blue Book describes this exact model as a five-shot .38 S&W, made 1899–1904, with the target-logo grips and the five patent dates on top of the barrel.

That’s it!!!
Dang you guys rock!!
I got the kids put down and printed a stand to attempt to get a better picture and you guys already got it figured out.

One thing that makes old family guns so cool is the story behind them.
Unfortunately I was never able to meet the gentleman but from what I am told he was an old cowboy that only ever owned two pistols.
This one and a 7” .22 revolver.
They say this is the one though that he would never leave the house without even when he rode a horse to meet a girl on a first date that eventually became grandma.
Legit stuff that sounds like it’s out of a lifetime movie😂
