I don't have a clearance anymore though. TS//SCI only lasts 5 years and I got out in 2019.

What is interesting in our current timeline, is that it doesn't necessarily matter what it is anymore (so pick you're poison). No one is truly prepared for a disaster until it happens and exposes weaknesses. The ill prepared will call, The desperate will steal, and the mental breakdowns will begin.

So what about now?
The best time to prepare is when there is no crises.
This is when you actually have time

This doesn't mean going into debt to build a bunker, stackings guns, or packing food and water to last a life time. It means to get started regardless of how small it may seem. Just having a plan puts you at an advantage and doing small things eventually stacks up into something bigger.

Fixing your beater car doesn't sound exciting, but it means having a running vehicle. Buying a cheap budget gun won't get you clout, but you now have something in you're hands. Slapping together an amazon kit isn't cool, but hey now you have something to grab something.

sadly plenty of family is liberal and anti gun, the worst part is that I do care about them so I am doing my best stocking up on guns/ammo knowing that as long as you have that AND the courage to do what it takes you can get anything else................ guns are not only worthless but an actual liability if you are not willing to follow through when SHTF.

In reality, COVID barely affected healthy people at all. Many didn't even have symptoms from exposure. All the disruption was for nothing. It was just a Chinese lab experiment. It also showed the power of MSM propaganda. People were denying the facts for years.

RE: this idea that "covid came and went" and somehow life is now better than before.

I think that is an extremely narrow way to look at what happened. Covid may not have been total societal collapse but it absolutely exposed how fragile modern systems actually are. Businesses were shut down selectively. Some people were allowed to operate while others were told to absorb the losses. Restaurants got hammered. Small businesses got hammered. Some people abused relief programs too so it wasnt all innocent victims either.

But pretending it was just a temporary inconvenience because "life went on" misses the point entirely. A lot changed permanently after that. Prices went up. Restaurants changed pricing and staffing models. Supply chains got exposed. Trust in institutions collapsed. Schools were disrupted. People watched government effectively pick winners and losers in real time.

Society continuing to function does not mean the event was insignificant. It was a real world stress test and a lot of systems either failed or barely held together. The psychological impact matters too. Covid accelerated political tribalism social isolation distrust anger and institutional fatigue. You can still see the effects everywhere years later.

Being in the gun industry I get the "I'm coming to your house if something goes down" a lot.
My wife would feed into her friends delusion that they would be taken care of if they just got to our house.
