I'll take a roster gun over off-roster gun because of this!

Management not lawyers.

Around half the companies choose to do it and it’s mainly in the US.
they're the ones paying when they get sued not us. They do it for a reason. They have been in court for decades for all kinds of bull💩. Its a business decision that has likely saved them money as silly as it seems.

As far as the hypothetical prosecution angle is concerned, what’s the difference between these two arguments?

1. The accused chose to override state mandated gun safety measures by disengaging the mag disconnect and replacing the LCI slide with a „free state” slide.

2. The accused chose to override state mandated gun safety measures by forgoing an on-roster version and instead paying extra to purchase an off-roster version.

Ive posed the same question, no one really knows until you are in court but logically you are at the same place if you remove a safety feature vs just have a gun without it.

I saw this great looking gun on another forum and thought no bloody way I'd own that.

At least on a roster gun I can remove the magazine disconnect but there's no easy way to remove that ugly white lettering.
Most white lettering is etched into the aluminum or steel. Just rubbed some Birchwood Casey's Aluminum Black or Super Blue on the lettering and it becomes less noticeable.

Nonsense and not relevant, and LCI another completely different topic.

Back on topic, “capable of firing with magazine removed” markings are the manufacturers opinion of US gun owners - we think you’re stupid and you prove it by still buying our guns even when we obnoxiously mark them with an insult aimed directly at you.

I had a chuckle because someone is so easily offended by a manufacturer's warning label, yet won't recognize some easy remedies like the Sharpie idea, or even Cerakote options etc etc etc to remove the contrast. Most people recognize the appropriate tactic of ignoring offensive speech from loud-mouth suspects and not allowing it to anger you into inappropriate action, yet a warning label on your pistol drives you nuts!

On a more serious note:

Having the magazine disconnect feature can be a detriment. I've been shooting for a long time, and even I recognize that I've unintentionally dropped a magazine from my pistol during sloppy reloads, or even with support-handed shooting manipulation practice, etc.

Idiot labels won't get you hurt in a worst-case scenario, but losing that magazine from whatever reason, can.

Sharpie wipes off immediately and what’s the point to doubling the cost of a gun with custom repaint?

Let the manufacturers know by not buying those guns.

You shouldn't carry. If all he has is his fists, I dont think ur getting away with dropping him...
Hit them with the gun. It will hurt a lot and likely cut their head open.
Learning to fight is not only a helpful skill (though hopefully never needed), it made me much more relaxed in public and feel less compelled to carry a weapon. Obviously there's situations where my fists won't help and each of us have our own physical abilities and limitations, but if you're a generally fit person I can' recommend taking martial arts or boxing lessons (for several years) enough.

Im in a krav maga class. Im not a very big person so having the ability and knowledge to disarm someone above my weight class helps a lot. I still carry cuz theres always that just in case scenario. Also, the world is kinda insane right now

It's a good scenario because anything could happen in a scuffle specially if the scuffle started with an argument and the aggressor initiated contact then during the scuffle he felt your piece on your waist and that's when the fight for your firearm started.

in a defensive situation where you brandish your weapon to diffuse a situation and the unarmed person reaches for your weapon, you then have justification due to the threat of them using your weapon against you.

Weren’t people filling in engraving with something before? Probably just get black version of that.

Was it like nail polish or something?

Exactly. OP just needed to vent or something. It's just impossible to apply logic to CA based firearms rules and laws!

These letters aren’t “engraved”, they are etched or laser engraved. Both change the hardness and cannot be coldblued and are too shallow to fill with paint or crayon.

You could just disassemble it, send the stripped slide to a vendor out of state for black nitride treatment.

Counter argument to both of those two hypotheticals: the state mandated measures are unconstitutional garbage written by legislators who are clueless about firearms.

If it was safe enough for the LEO i purchased it from, it’s good for me. When you draw, you’re looking over the slide, not the warning on the side.

If you prefer manual safety, lci, and mag disco over a warning? That’s wild!! Even with removing and plugging safety holes, removing mag disco, and the likes. Now you’re removing internals that shouldn’t even be there. I’ll take my off roster C.O.R.E M&P 2.0 any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
