Internet gun transfer fee

I’m not even complaining about buying from online distributors on this scenario, I’ll gladly pay their fee when I do that I can’t even be mad about it. This one is a local not for profit organization that helps law enforcement through hardships. If it’s buds I get it charge me a fee whatever.

If you developed a relationship with them and explained that to them they might be willing to waive their fee, but you are just asking them to effectively donate to the same charity as you without the tax credit in the form of lost revenue.

Here’s an idea: buy your max-9 from the LGS and donate the $75 fee as cash to the charity. Now everyone wins?

What does this fee cover that dros doesn’t? Is there that much labor intensive costs of accepting a package and putting it in a shelf for 2 days. People keep referencing government fees and paperwork costs but I think that’s covered by dros fee as are the rest of their sales in house. This isn’t a gun they had to research and reach out to a distributor for a bulk buy deal and hustle for weeks to get rid of. Hell even consignment guns.. think, consignment guns are subject to 15 percent house take. 15 percent… it’s a percentage… this fee for this gun I bought is 20 percent of its value I may be splitting hairs here but come on. Nobody sees my side here?

The DROS fee goes to the state. The gun store doesn’t get to keep it. It’s like the sales and excise tax.

See this starts to make sense to me. Like someone else said some charge so much to just disincentivize the action all together.

no i charge a certain amount because that is what my time is worth and if you want to ship a gun to me then be it send it, but i have posted fees for transfers 9 time out of 10 i have a random send me one and they are flabbergasted by the $125 fee plus DROS and once i explain all the other BS they probably didn't know they were going to have to pay like ST, CFET, FSC they call me before they order online and ask what my price is and its definitely going to be cheaper than what they paid for their online tax free firearm.

The state takes all of the $37.19 which is suppose to fund their end of this whole operation. $31.19 goes to them for DROS, $5 for firearm safety enforcement fee, $1.00 Firearm Safety Fee, now you ask me what all these really go to, i have ZERO answers, just another government taking what they can when they can. Now im guessing you dont go to work for free do you? your not willing to clock in 30 minutes early and do something your boss asks you to do.

Well to run a firearms store in CA is not as easy as you may think. With all of the bureaucratic BS that Dealers have to jump through just to maintain a facility $50,75,125 doesnt do it justice. Next time yuou go into a gun store think all those signs hagning are constantly changing and new ones need to be bought, Camera system that is required by law to record 24/7 and strore feed for 365 days cost money, those bars on windows and security system with monthly monitoring cost money, the licenses cost money.The so called kid wokring the counter you said doenst do anyting cost that owner a whole bunch of added costs, SS,Medicare/medical, taxes, wages etc. so in the end who really is getting the better end of your free deal YOU?

You genuinely think that $10 is enough to pay an employee minimum wage for the time it takes him to run the background check on your trash pistol, and then 10 days later do more paper work for you during your pick up? That doesn't include the time an auditor spends making sure they got all the paperwork correct, assuming they have an auditor.

So answer this question, do you think $10 is enough to cover all that labor? Yes or No?

You guys are all crying so hard for the store owner over this 21% tax on a gun that they literally had nothing to do with except accepting a package but will also cry about an 11% tax on ammunition . Figure it out are you for the man or not

DROS fees ($37.19) are set by the state and are actually forwarded to the state, the FFL doesn’t keep any of that. The $10 per firearm fee when doing a PPT, however, is kept by the FFL.

Transfer fees are something entirely distinct and separate from DROS fees, and are not unique to CA. Every single FFL in the country charges a fee to transfer a firearm from another FFL to the end buyer. Why should a business offer to facilitate such a transfer for free when they are taking on the primary burden of transferring the gun to the buyer?
