Internet gun transfer fee

It just happens to be 20% of the cost of the gun because the price of the gun was so low. They would charge the same transfer fee on a $2k gun or a $5k gun. It’s just a flat fee for facilitating the transfer, and it’s standard practice across the industry.
 
all this conversation for $75.. We live here in one of the top most expensive states that hates the 2A. When you live here, we pay more for everything and suffer.. Until democrats are voted out nothing will change and you will pay more and thats the end of story. DROS doesn't exist anywhere else. None of this exists anywhere else, so just pony or MOVE. We love the nature and friends out here so I have accepted the suffering, it just is sadly.
 
If the kitchen FFLs are still around (there was a bill significantly complicating their lives), they could be able to transfer it for cheaper. Otherwise, $75 doesn't sound terribly wrong. In fact it sounds somewhat cheap for a brick and mortar store, that has to pay the bills and comply with every single stupid federal, state and local regulation. The cost of the gun has very minimal impact on the price (only the insurance if lost). Otherwise the paperwork for $300 and $3000 dollar gun is the same.

A transfer fee for a transaction like the one described is not unique to California. FFL transfer fees are a normal thing in any state. The variable is the amount that is charged, which as you correctly pointed out is higher in states like this one where FFLs have more regulations to comply with, and therefore more work to do in facilitating a transfer. Yes it does suck to have additional fees stacked on top of all the other costs associated with purchasing a firearm, but as several others have pointed out, a $75 transfer fee is about as low as you’ll find in a CA LGS.

true to an extent.. I shipped a gun out for gunsmithing but since it needs to come back FFL to FFL shipping, I asked one shop and they wanted $100 to bring it back because they have to redo paperwork and legally bring it in. Other states do not have that. It sucks and I wish I could move, but the job and friends just make it impossible for now- so I just suck it up and pay up.

But yes, $75 is a great price, I posted that earlier
