Is CGN down again?

I’ve seldom seen an implosion of a good and valuable property like what has happened to CalGuns. I think something more must have happened to Kestryll than just that he didn’t want to spend the money to upgrade it to where it should be. It would have made more sense to sell it. Even the moderators are totally in the dark and to what happened. It’s a ghost ship.

I’m pleased there is another California gun website because we need one.

The are a lot of good people from there, but also many who aren't. Certain people have taken over the site who aren't even in California anymore. The folks over there think this site is the anti-thesis of them politically but only because they need a reason to point to the declining condition of the site.

We fix problems here. The site is secured to protect your privacy. It irritates me that they like to talk about 1A/2A, but CGN has no restrictions on location. Whereas here it's well known you will be banned or blocked for being outside the US or hiding your location willingly for scamming or trolling. They took my personal experience and twisted it into something political vs understanding the reason people get into 2A like myself who are looking to protect themselves and their families. You can’t reason with those folks.

The most ironic thing is they point to me as the bad guy for wanting to buy the site and fix it vs lose the majority of its value and credibility.

Overall, it was a good thing. Ever since that door shut we've added more security and performance tweaks and expansion will be going on throughout the year. I’m also glad I’m not admin of that site. Saved me a lot of time and headache.

Just so people are clear here, we don't mix firearms and political stances on public forums since ALL data is being scraped and analyzed by many places. If you don't think so, you should assume so. The best practices here are meant to encourage good OpSec for members.

The smart folks there seem to think 1A on the internet applies to everyone but in person in America you have to prove it. Still haven’t heard from the owner since September too. I thought he would’ve made an appearance by now.

Like others have said - up and down. Don’t like that there is no itrader system. Posted up a rifle for sale on Calguns because I was unfamiliar with the system on this site. However, tried it out and it was easy so probably won’t ever go back to Calguns.

Feedback system exists here and is way more robust. It’s fully integrated with the marketplace app. We even have a leaderboard

Btw, the feedback here is members only. The public can’t view feedback links. There’s supposedly 2,000+ guests on CGN at any given time. The security setup there is non-existent and the specs of the system are basically for life support to keep collecting from members and advertisers. Just enough action to keep people paying.

I get it. We’re in a small minority in California. I’m a lifetime CRPA member and I give but most of my politics stays on X. Every gun owner in CA knows what they need to do.

I do appreciate a working forum and I didn’t always appreciate the smartass answers to questions and general attitude of many there.

CGN is in it's death theros if you ask me which makes me sad, when I'm actually able to log in and look at new postings in the Marketplace it's a shell of what it once was.

The owner has been running that grift for a few years now, and the die-hards and try-hards that refuse to accept what's happening. They prefer to make you the villain for the lack of care and concern shown by the site owner. Maybe it's easier to scapegoat than to accept their weird version of Stockholm syndrome they're experiencing. I've seen more than a few forums implode, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that before, though. The Calguns implosion has been a unique and fascinating thing to view.

Also extremely sad. Should have neve happened, but here we are.
