Is the P320 market dead?

The design for the P365 is vastly different than for the P320:
Vastly different?

Both have:
Molded grip modules with a formed sheet metal FCU? Yes.
Glock cam-style barrel lockup in a milled slide with a striker in a plastic sleeve? Yes.
All fire control parts besides springs made by MIM or PIM? Yes.
Dramatically loose fits between the slide, frame and fire control parts? Yes.

Swapping one MIM part for a different shaped MIM part is not a "vast" improvement.
Both the P320 and P365 could be vastly improved by going to forged/machined or billet machined fire control parts that fit much more closely.
The manufacturing costs would go up a lot though and that would greatly effect the sales.
These are both cheap guns to manufacture and that's Sig's primary interest.

The only real differences between the 320 and 365 are how the manual safety blocks the sear travel and the series 80 style firing pin block.
Those are good improvements over the P320, but the non-manual-safety models don't even have the sear safety feature.

I have a 320 x5 legion which I very much enjoy shooting, it is not my main and favorite handgun, but it is not too bad either. It has never been and never will be having one in the chamber while pointed anywhere but downrange, so why should I be worried

I have all the M17 components except the FCU that someone gave me, so I’m thinking of picking up an M18. I’m old, so shooting off my balls isn’t a primary concern. I would most likely just use this for plinking and a throwaway gun in the event of a self defense incident at home. I would keep it under my pillow pointed at my wife’s side of the bed.

With the latest FBI report being shared around about the p320 I have being a lot of discussion about people selling off/not being able to sell off their p320, and overall uncertainty about the platform.

Do you think the market has gone soft for the p320? I got a custom works p320 scorpion and can’t help but to wonder.

What do y’all think?
Are the external safety modules "safe"? I would buy another 320 but I'm happy with my 365's. I think i would go Glock S&W Walther hell even Canik before 320.

Are the external safety modules "safe"?
I am going to assume that you mean "models" when you said "modules" because "models" makes more sense in the context of your question.
The P320 manual safety models are NOT any safer from Uncommanded Discharges than the manual safety models because the manual safety only blocks the trigger and does not immobilize the sear.
The Uncommanded Discharges are happening when the sear lets the striker fall.

markets not dead according to route66scott who still constantly shills for them and claims “they have no issues” lmfao

I would love to know the so called issues on the 365 platform..I have a gen1 365XL that I have been EDC since july 2020 and haven't had 1 issue. I have probably 4-5 thousand rounds through it since then and it works perfectly. Eats every ammo I throw in it to. I can honestly say there is nothing wrong with the 365XL.
Me too?

The P365 is a totally different design than the the P320, with out any of the UD issues due to its proper striker safety design and a manual safety the works directly on the sear, so it should not be be confused with the P320's problems.

The only thing to worry about with the P365 is round count and the trigger return spring, which has been a common fail point at higher round counts, which when failed has no UD issues, rather just a dead trigger.

I think Sig now recommends changing the P365's trigger return spring at around 2500 to 5000 rounds, but I'm not sure as mine isn't near the round count yet?

My P365 has been 100% safe and reliable since day one through maybe 1200 rounds, and is used for EDC, though I won't own a P320 due to its striker safety and manual safety designs among other things.

^ He says it blocks the sear. Randall says it don’t. I’ll go with the latter’s assertion.👐
I think you might be confused by this poorly structured run-on sentence due to multiple undefined "it" references:
The P365 is a totally different design than the the P320, with out any of the UD issues due to its proper striker safety design and a manual safety the works directly on the sear, so it should not be be confused with the P320's problems.
I think he is saying that the P365 blocks the sear and that the P320 does not.
That is indeed how it actually is.

Reorganizing the words from DJD100, here is a better way to put it:
The P365 is a totally different design than the the P320,
The P365 is with out any of the P320 UD issues due to the P365's proper striker safety design and a manual safety the works directly on the sear
The P365 should not be be confused with the P320's problems.
I think that's what me means to say, but simply does not put well into words.

Good to know im getting very close to 5k on my 365XL maybe ill change the spring soon. Usually dont change any springs til 10k but for my EDC i will change early

Wow, you couldn't comprehend the meaning of the below sentence typed in US English?

"The P365 is a totally different design than the the P320, with out any of the UD issues due to its proper striker safety design and a manual safety the works directly on the sear, so it should not be be confused with the P320's problems."

Crap, I'll have to put on the Dunce Cap and sit in the corner now!

I believe the trigger return spring should b changed earlier as it's been a common fail point with the P365, and I think that Sig is recommending changing it between 2500 and 5000 rounds, the RSA later at around 10,000 rounds AFAIK, but double check!

Earlier is better for EDC I agree!

Geez people, there are plenty of videos I've posted here that show the P365's manual safety directly blocking the sear while the P320's manual safety doesn't.

For the last time...

a) The P320's manual safety does NOT block the sear, it only blocks the trigger.

b) The P365's manual safety does block the sear!
