Is there still open shooting in Aguanga just east of Temecula?

Hello,

Many years ago I used to shoot in Aguanga at the base of the mountains. Does anyone know if there's still open shooting out there or anywhere else out doors by Temecula?

I have a friend coming in from out of town and he wants to take his grandsons shooting but I'd rather not take them to an indoor range. (and don't want to drive all the way out to the desert..)

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Possibly, though this area is still under BLM seasonal fire restriction (map here) order until October 29th - you could give the field office a call, but I doubt it'll be lifted sooner given the shutdown. Use ArcGIS maps to locate BLM. I can't speak for county laws in that area, specifically, but those still apply.

That is my understanding as well. All BLM is shut down until the fire restrictions are lifted, which is tentatively scheduled for October 29th, pending the government's reopening.

"This order begins on May 21, 2025, at 12:01 A.M. and ends on October 29, 2025, at 23:59 P.M. unless terminated sooner." You're good to go on October 30th, regardless of whether the shutdown is ongoing. The seasonal closure affects only "zone 2" areas in the map above.

Pala Shooting Range might be an option.

Yes, that was one option but we are taking his grandkids for the first time and I'd rather do our own thing instead of going to a range. It won't be till Nov so I think I'll take them to Aguanga. I had good times out there years ago with individual shooting spots.
