I went to my local Gun Shop to buy a Ruger 250 Anniversary AR Lower and ended up with a Ruger 10/22 on the same DROS! I bought Model 32009 with the BX trigger and Birch stock! I’m so excited! It’s time to read up and get myself familiar with the Ruger 10/22 platform during the 10 day wait.

Congrats. The 10-22 is a great platform. I used to shoot a lot of bench rest competitions 10 years ago. A number of my friends who joined at the same time put bull barrels on them and a decent trigger and their rifles were quite competitive. So many things you can do to it. I’d suggest just shooting and enjoying it as it is.

Add a .22 handgun then watch how quickly you realize you ain’t so good as you thought you were! GP100 in .22LR humbled the out of me! But man it’s sooooo fun to shoot and teaches you a lot!

I bought the cheapest one I could at 's Sporting Goods moons ago, just so I could rebuild the whole thing with the insane plethora of options to make whatever you want with these beauties.

Sweet, good choice on the bx trigger version. Also congratulations on not being like me buying an AR-7 for your first 22, and just going with the rightfully ubiquitous one that is fun to shoot. Jk, OP you should totally get an ar 7, it was designed by Eugene Stoner y'know. And it floats!

I have 3 .22 rifles myself, though none are 10/22s. Still a lot of fun, regardless. I recently threw an inexpensive scope on my old Marlin model 60, took it to the range and got it zeroed at 50 yds. Damn near perfection.

The rough thing now is ordering parts, finding someone that will ship into California. If you can find someone, someone that will not require an adult signature. Good grief, I hate California!

Super! Personally, I like .22 LR to see how fast I can rip 'em off and still stay on target. Recoil is no longer an excuse, and sloppy trigger control becomes obvious. Have fun!

More and more these days, I’m going to my local gun store (where I buy most of my stuff from so they know me) and asking them to order things. Seems to solve a lot of the hassles these days. I have 4 local gun stores to choose from. The one I use the most has the best customer service. The other local gun store I used to use, wouldn’t text me or hold (even with a down payment) the Sig P365 when they got on the CA roster. This store did. Amazing how little things like that can impact where we shop.

They text me back ‘Sure’.
Days to weeks later, I get a text that my order is there and go pick it up.

Yup. Has a feel to what the 1980s and 90s were like. In fact, when used guns come in, my LGS knows what I like so they will often text me to see if I want to buy it. Sometimes they hold it in the back for me. Often I will buy it. Being a good customer be it guns or other things does have some perks to it. Local restaurant I go to, sometimes will comp my dessert. Not enough where they will go out of business for it. Just being nice to me for coming there on a regular basis. A lot of online shopping has done away with folks developing these kinds of good local community relationships. Twentyish years ago, I needed a gun belt for an upcoming training class. The owner was out but his wife was there. There was no price on the belt but I couldn’t wait to buy it the next day. We guessed what it would be and I paid it and came back the next week to talk to the owner. I wanted to settle up in case the guess was wrong. We were close but off on the guess. Owner comped the difference, again, because I was a good customer. I didn’t ask for it or expect it. Just part of the deep local client customer relationship. I am no one special. Just tend to buy from the same folks over and over and get to know the individuals. Also helps if something is broken or wrong when you buy something. I’m polite and friendly and shoot the breeze a bit asking about things they have shared about the lives outside of work. My dad was a great salesman for heavy duty trucks. So much so that what he sold annually was more than the rest of the salesforce combined in the office. He started with a crappy territory. Was just the building of relationships over time; not a transactional type of relationship. It works well in life for all kinds of things. When our local church has fund raising events, folks reach out to the local businesses for donations. Most willing give. Guess what business we try and make it a point to visit? Part of what the internet has done is diminish local commerce to the detriment of many local communities i think. Ok, I’ve rambled way too much.
