If you want to try some machines out, depending on how metro/rural you are, I would recommend checking your local libraries which often have "Maker Spaces". The library nearest me has two laser engravers: Glowforge and XTool. And there are much larger libraries in my county that likely have more to choose from.
If you find a couple libraries with different machines, you should be able to 'try before you buy' a few different manufacturers and see what you like and don't like as far as User Interface, ease of use, parameters you're looking for, etc.
