Metcalf Field Sports Park Has Banned P320s

Technically Winchester "gifted" them the property and the range. But only on the condition if it remains a gun range. If they close it it reverts back to winchesters control. Which is why open spaces cant get it.
That’s interesting, had no clue. Any tips on where to find this history ?

I'm honestly surprised the place is still open at all.

When I was working there we were constantly hearing about "Parks dept hates us and wants us to go away".
But man it’s busy, was there yesterday and you couldn’t find a parking spot for a while and then lots of people lined up

Good to know and glad to hear it.

Any rules to be aware of? Banned guns other than 320?

What's their deal on "rapid fire"? I don't make a habit of mag-dumping my Glock in 3 seconds or something, but when I get into a rhythm I am definitely going faster than some arbitrary "3 seconds between each shot" rule.

Reeds most definitely does NOT enforce 3 seconds between shots.strange

I was at the FSP today and I talked to a range safety officer. He said that a longtime regular range customer had a P320, inserted the magazine and racked the slide, still pointed downrange, and it went off. One of the range officers happened to witness the occasion so they knew it wasn't a negligent discharge.

I'm just the messenger and I don't hate P320's. Just passing on what I was told today.
I believe it's negligent discharges, their is a video out of what happens when you assemble a p320 incorrectly.

I guess if you don't get caught it's ok but like I last said, Iast I remember the guy in the next lane over at reeds got the attention of the employees and he was not mag dumping but he was in rhythm. And over at Metcalf it's heavily watched but again someone might say otherwise. I'm getting my target ready for this week for the weekend at BLM land.

IMHO at Reeds, it's probably only enforced for idiots. Maybe your range neighbor was one.

When I go there, I regularly break the rule. As in, "every magazine of my Glock" regular. Nobody's ever said a word. I've seen other people do the same. My guess is if they hear you breaking the rule, they mosey over to the window, check out your group size or something, and proceed accordingly.

I've never seen anyone get a talking to for anything, really. YMMV. Could be a function of when you go. I tend to get there at opening and am gone within an hour.

Probably jinxed myself now.

Wonder if Santa Clara County/Metcalf are changing their mind?

NEWINGTON, N.H., July 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SIG SAUER, an industry-leading manufacturer of cutting-edge firearms, electro-optics, ammunition, and advanced concepts, issued a statement today after the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit on July 16, 2026, ordered the dismissal of a SIG SAUER P320 class action lawsuit in its entirety.

The Eighth Circuit Court ruled in Glasscock v. SIG SAUER, Inc. that a plaintiff must experience an actual defect on a product claim, rather than suggesting a theoretical defect could occur in the future and claiming damages. In its written decision, the court shows the plaintiff "admitted that he has had no issues (including inadvertent discharge) with his P320."

The unanimous ruling by a panel of three federal judges determined that a hypothetical defect is insufficient for the lawsuit, clearly stating that mere ownership of a product is not satisfactory in the case. The outcome in Glasscock v. SIG SAUER, Inc. is significant because of the strong and unambiguous language by the Eighth Circuit Court highlighting the "wholly speculative" nature of the plaintiff's claim.

"The Eighth Circuit's ruling adds to our approximately 20 case dismissals involving the P320, including a previous class action lawsuit," said Keith Gibson, an attorney at Littleton Joyce and counsel for SIG SAUER. "The P320 is among the most tested and proven handguns in the world, which is why we will continue to defend SIG SAUER's products and the technology behind them."

Similarly, a separate federal court denied class action certification in Ortiz v. SIG SAUER, Inc. in 2022. Multiple courts dismissed P320 cases after SIG SAUER demonstrated through repeated company and independent testing the firearm cannot discharge without a trigger pull. In addition, several plaintiffs decided to withdraw their P320 lawsuits after the evidence and independent investigations were presented.

In May 2026, two separate lawsuits were dismissed with prejudice in Massachusetts federal court and Colorado federal court. Nobody, including multiple experts retained by plaintiffs, has ever replicated a P320 pistol firing without a trigger pull.

In Massachusetts, the plaintiff voluntarily withdrew the case which claimed his issued P320 discharged in his hand without a trigger pull. His employer, the Cambridge Police Department, determined the plaintiff's handling of the weapon violated numerous departmental rules and caused the gun to discharge in an enclosed van with other officers. In Colorado federal court, the plaintiff similarly withdrew the case after SIG SAUER showed again the P320 cannot discharge without a trigger pull.

The P320 is an innovative striker-fired pistol which has been selected as the handgun of choice following rigorous testing by the U.S. military and a number of other countries, including Canada, Switzerland, and Australia, as well as by elite law enforcement and federal agencies. It cannot under any circumstance discharge without a trigger pull – a fact which has repeatedly been verified through testing by SIG SAUER, handgun experts, and independent labs.

Good history info! When I was a kid in the eighties I shot there and it was called Winchester shooting range

Do fire one on an empty mag, reload and fire one or ready up/compressed drills and that should keep you above their shot between rounds limit.

They won't because the story is fake. P320 cannot fire without a trigger pull per the courts
Yeah that's kinda correct because they settled out of court and had to sign a nondisclosure. But not per the countless videos on YouTube where the gun fired when holstered and their finger was nowhere near the trigger.

No I mean nobody has ever been able to prove it or show it happen. Using the wrong holster etc is their fault

That is absolutely correct, no one has been able to duplicate the UD in any of the holsters that were being used. On the flip side Sig or anyone else has not proven that it is the holster or users fault and not the P320 either. Until that happens I will not allow a P320 on any of the shoots I do, I also agree with all of the instructors and ranges that ban them from their ranges for safety reasons.

That's fine, it's better for novice or low skill operators to stay within their limits, and be safe. That's what I've always taught. If you are scared you will ND, definitely add a manual or trigger safety. My M18 has a manual safety and I've never had a problem with it. I was military trained though, so we are taught how to operate these platforms safely.

LOL your FanBoisim and ignorance is outstanding. You have no idea on my background or skill level, yet you're betting waving your DD214 around gives you skill and knowledge above the rest of us. Let me guess 18B, Delta, perhaps DEVGRU commander or let me guess you can't say because it's classified and you have a top secret non disclosure agreement by the president. Your P320 has a manual safety nice cookies for you, but a good majority of them do not. It's an unsafe platform which is why the smart people and PDs are dumping them, that's why they're selling used for sub 400.00. Of course you're going to say the mil still are keeping them but just because they are turning a blind eye to the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it's not like they never put soldiers lives on the line with bad decisions before. Even if no one is able to duplicate it doesn't mean it's not a problem of it will never do it again, because it keeps happening. If you want to win the Darwin award for shooting your mushroom off, by all means have at it. When you post things that may put other's lives in danger, then some of us may have an opposing opinion without the pedigree of service such as yourself.

Idk man that’s a lot of words to say you don’t know how to operate a P320 without having a negligent discharge. Keep your finger off the trigger so you don’t Glock leg yourself like that guy in the video. What would my clearance have to do with this lol - and where are these $400 ones on the classifieds plz I wouldn’t mind one at that price. I paid more.

Shooting your mushroom off? Who did that with a P320? I’ve heard of 0 incidents where someone AIWB had the gun go off.

Bro, you want me to link all those YouTube vids that show your beloved P320 going off while holstered and no ones finger could possibly be near the trigger or did you not or refuse to watch them because you all of a sudden stopped posting in that thread because your ignorance was showing? You wave your service like you're a end all be all tier one operator and because you served you know everything about a firearm. I got an idea why don't you write a letter to all those ranges, instructors, PD dept, etc and tell them because your vast knowledge and you happen to have a DD214 you know what you're talking about. Sooooo just curious what was your MOS?? I'm not saying any service is above anyone else, but just want to see what makes you so qualified.

Here's a link to the sub 400.00 for a used P320. Buy away, oh wait you're in Commiefornia so too bad.

There's a couple videos that are very old and have issues with police handling and holsters... just like Glock.

Lol I never said anything about being an operator or even shooting much in the military. IS.

I mean $400 for a used police trade in, in .45 sounds about right.
