Need help getting thoughts on next gun in order

For some background my next handgun will be a hammer fired all metal body 9MM handgun. I have already ruled out the Berettas, not a fan of this handgun just couldn't shoot it well. I have previously resolved my next purchase to be an on-roster Sig P226, MK25 or Scorpion Elite (I like the added length on the beaver tail, plus can Cerakote if I replace the slide). My issue is this last weekend I went to a range to shoot the P226 again, the range had a CZ 75 PCR that could also be rented so I did. I like the trigger on the PCR and shot the gun really well. If I were to pick up on off roster CZ, I would be looking for either a SP-01 Tactical or CZ 75BD. I have considered 1911's (most likely will get one eventually just not right now), 2011's (out of my price range), haven't put too much thought into Hi-power clones because I am not too aware of aftermarket parts to hep "tune" the gun experience. I like the idea of the de-cocker vs safety since this will be a home defense and range toy only, in the event the gun is needed while I am not home, I don't want my wife or daughters to have to worry about the safety, they are fairly new to handguns. I have seen some CZ models in the classified ads here with a sticker price at or close to the P226 however any savings I might save from not having to pay taxes or even a lower price is easily negated by location of the handgun available. I am in Central California with any decently priced CZ at least 4 -6 hours away with time away from work, travel, etc. I end up paying as much or more for the CZ than I would for the Sig, plus I don't see many SP-01 Tactical handguns appear in the classified ads often which is what has me considering the 75BD.

To add to my decision, I am looking forward to tweaking this new handgun, and I am saddened by the recent work that Cajun Gun Works will no longer ship to CA but will do the work for you if ship your gun in. I would prefer to do the work myself; I am pretty good with this kind of work; I would rather do the work myself. Many of the CZs I see available have already been tweaked/tuned, this doesn't mean there won't be specific tuning for me but much of the work has already been completed.

I am sure I would be happy with either a CZ SP-01 Tactical, CZ 75BD or the Sig P226 out of the box I just can't keep looking for the unicorn posting not because I want a CZ so bad but just because I want to see the unique posting of decent price within a reasonable travel time. My question to the group is with the above information and if you were in my position how would you proceed, wait for that unicorn offering to appear in the classified ads or purchase the BNIB Sig P226 and tweak/tune to my liking (Gray Guns, Sig Armorer, etc.)?

Here's what I'll say, my upgraded Sig still doesn't have a trigger anywhere near as nice as a Cajun CZ trigger, nor as nice as a Langdon Beretta. Thats not to say the Sig trigger is bad, but I have yet to feel one, upgraded or not, that can compare to the other two guns upgraded.

That being said, none of them even come close to shooting as nice as my Springfield 9mm 1911 with no work done other than minor polishing and replacing a couple springs.

Wait for your heart's desire bro; if it says CZ then a sig cannot fill that gap.

I just sold an SP01 tactical, they are more rare for sure than the safety version SP01, the guy I sold it to said he was looking for 2 months... I'll say this, your wife and daughter need to train regardless if they will be using the weapon and operating a safety is by far the easiest part of shooting. You can also decock it by hand safely (with practice) on the safety model, or store it without a round in the chamber (not ideal). They are super nice guns I still shoot one as one of my main guns because it fits my hand perfectly. You can find whatever you want, if you are patient. It may just take a long time and require throwing in an extra 100 bucks to get the guy to drive closer to you. The other guy is right though, a 9mm 1911 can be bought at almost every store on roster (kimber or springfield) and you can get 10 round mags and call it good for about 1000 bucks. Could be worth looking into in the short term and keep your eyes open for a CZ.

My vote is for CZ. I was just looking for a full size metal 9mm to buy for competition and landed on a SP-01 with manual safety (the lack of decocker doesn’t bother me, you can still leave it with safety off in DA mode). I prefer CZs to Sigs, better triggers and ergos for me. Just got the SP-01 a week ago and LOVE it!

Wojtek (FFL member here) will ship CGW parts to us for a very small fee, I just ordered stuff for my SP-01 from him, so don’t let that dissuade you. I also have a 75BD in the classifieds that has the CGW SRS kit installed already if you want to drive to Sac.

I get the metal-framed CZ thing. Ergonomics, fit and finish, and trigger all considered, it's my favorite to shoot. I found my first CZ (Shadow 2 Compact) as a LEO consignment in one of my local FFLs and not only was it comfortable and a nice overall bit of kit, I was more accurate in the very first magazine than I'd ever been first shooting a gun new to me. 9mm 1911s are pretty enjoyable too. Triggers are different between the two but both are great. The SP-01 is a fun project gun (great aftermarket support) and has balance similar to the Shadow 2.

My vote is for CZ. I was just looking for a full size metal 9mm to buy for competition and landed on a SP-01 with manual safety (the lack of decocker doesn’t bother me, you can still leave it with safety off in DA mode). I prefer CZs to Sigs, better triggers and ergos for me. Just got the SP-01 a week ago and LOVE it!

Wojtek (FFL member here) will ship CGW parts to us for a very small fee, I just ordered stuff for my SP-01 from him, so don’t let that dissuade you. I also have a 75BD in the classifieds that has the CGW SRS kit installed already if you want to drive to Sac.

I have multiple 226s. The cheapest and quickest way to fix the ridiculous DA trigger pull is to swap in a Gray Guns FAT hammer strut and a 17# mainspring, it transforms the trigger.
