Never Forget

I remember I was in college at the time, pretty surreal experience seeing it on television and seeing the second plane hit. Everything changed after that.

At the time, I was an intern at NASA and after that, security protocol was next level.

The conspiracy theorists are so annoying, they’re already hitting my fb post.

True conspiracies are pretty rare, and people just make up nonsense with no proof or reasoning
During Covid I got rid of all my Social Media accounts. Still have not gone back. I do miss some old friends, but that’s about it.

I find social media like Facebook, TicTok, Instagram to be total wastes of time. The only social media I use are a motorcycle site (BARF) and two California sites dedicated to guns.

Wow.. I haven’t checked out BARF in like a decade! Still in the BARF FB group but it’s not very active.

Thanks for posting this. I've been remembering and commemorating it all day today with a heavy heart. America was unified by trauma, and it was remarkable how quickly our differences seemed to disappear and we came together as Americans. I flew to D.C. from CA for my company only 5 weeks later, the plane was mostly empty and people were clearly still shaken up. I remember looking at every passenger sideways and thinking what I would do if I saw anyone b-lining for the cockpit. We drove right by the pentagon where you could see this huge, gaping hole and burn marks on the ground. If you recall they were initially denying it was actually a plane for months after.

Twenty-five years later, I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I watched and heard the news. It's difficult to describe that day to anyone who didn't live through it—the shock, the disbelief, the terrible loss of life, and then the extraordinary courage and unity that followed.

Never forget those we lost, those who ran toward danger while others were running away, and what it felt like, however briefly, to simply be Americans together.

BARF remains very active. I think it may be the largest motorcycle site in the world.

I know the owner.
I was a member when I was living and working in Silicon Valley. Joined a few rides to Alice's. Good times!

I don't go on Socials on our around certain days. People are exhausting.

Some years later, Harold fell off a ladder at his home and was paralyzed. After he learned to breathe again, he continued on as Menlo Parks fire chief. He finally retired and I will see him from my breakfast nook window, outside in his wheel chair, doing what he remains capable of. He’s one of two hero’s in my life.

Budman! In my former life as a street squid I did some of the Alice's rides but I got tired of everyone crashing trying to keep up and ego riding, and CHP cracked down hard. Trackdays were much better for me.

Haha, you were too good for the streets! I am not. I am much safer as a 3D artist.

I remember waking up and checking my message machine. My craziest friend at the time left this message saying something like it was World War III. I was like WTF? Turned on the TV and thought oh chit whats going to happen next? We thought planes were going to start hitting everything. Soon after, every car had an American flag sticker on it and there were American flags everywhere. Thats when I knew we were going to war somewhere. Then a couple years later we were rolling into Baghdad. And the rest is history. A lot of blood and a lot of treasure spent for an attack that should have been prevented. Al Queda had already bombed the WTC in 1993. Our security agencies were totally incompetent. Fast forward 25 years and these terrorist psychopaths hate us more than ever. Never forget those MFers wont stop until our whole country is in ruins. IMHO we invaded the wrong country in 2003. Should have dealt with Iran back then instead of handing Iraq over to the IRGC on a silver platter. Stupid AF.

I had just graduated HS a few months before 9/11. Was flying to Cancun with a group of grads for our senior trip in July, but arrived at the airport and realized I’d forgotten my birth certificate at home (didn’t need a passport to travel to Mexico back then). No problem, just acquired a sworn affidavit of birth in the US from the security desk and I was on my way. Just two months later, air travel and the world as we knew it would never be the same… 😢

I was in Tucson for work. Woke up to a phone call telling me to turn on the TV

Called SW and they said all flights were cancelled for the day and likely the day after. All after that were booked solid.

I drove the rental car back to SoCal listening to the radio the whole way. I too cried, mostly thinking about all the kids who would never see their parents again.

My truck was at LAX and going there on the 13th to drop the rental car and pick it up was the most surreal thing ever. LAX and not a plane in the sky.
