My first pistol was a Glock 19 I bought new in 1996 which I still have today. Truly a Toyota Camry of handguns. I’m a Marine Corps retiree and worked in the private security field for a short while.

I’ve been dusting off my skills lately at local indoor ranges. My latest additions are a lever-action rifle in .357 and a revolver to match - both S&W. I’d like to get outside where I can shoot and move in a more realistic manner. Been thinking about South Bay or Lemon Grove.

Hello from Contra Costa County.

I bought my first gun, Sig P220, in 1995, shot a bit, then put it aside for almost 30 years. A little over a year ago I decided to pick up the sport again. I've settled on 9mm and shoot a Sig P320, a Sig P365, and a Glock G19. I shoot every other weekend at the United Sportsman range in Concord. I train somewhat regularly with a local defensive shooting trainer and I take some classes now and again with another trainer in Dublin. I train at home with a Mantis laser cartridge.

I like pulling guns apart and working on them almost as much as shooting. I'll probably start reloading at some point.

My biggest challenges: My wife and kids hate guns and I have no other hobbies :)
 
Hello, SoCal resident here. I am just getting into firearms for home defense after experiencing an uptick in the number and sophistication of home invasions happening in my neighborhood. I saw this site referenced on Reddit as a good resource and figured I'd come check it out. I'm currently just in the information sponge stage, so trying to take everything in.

I've got an M&P 2.0 Compact right now in 9mm, but lust over some of the 1911s I see and have visions of getting one in .45 ACP. That'll have to wait until I've gotten comfortable with my M&P and improved my skills. I've also got a basic handgun course under my belt, but looking to expand on training in the future. At this point I don't think I'd be interested in pursuing a CCW simply because CA makes it so onerous to get, maintain, and actually exercise. There are so many "sensitive" places that having a CCW seems pointless anyway as I would basically be unable to carry anywhere anyway (except the Post Office!). Oh well.

Hey Everyone! My name is Dara and just made the jump over to this forum after being told about it from a friend last night since I've always been complaining about calguns server issues and how it has been a zombie there along with flakers. Was on calguns for a long time when they have members rating to let other buyers/sellers be aware of another member. Learned some good resources in the CCW thread there. Did a decent amount of transactions (sold/buy) over calguns also.

Looking forward to see that caguns have and bring.
 
Hello there from SoCal. Been on CalGuns since 2010 and decided to jump over here since CalGuns is now a hot mess. Looking forward to CAGUNS growth.
I have been shooting since the 90's but only started shooting IDPA matches in 2021, I strongly recommend it. I usually work on my own pistols specially Berettas and Glocks. Also shoot 2011s and CZs. Hell, I like them all. LOL
 
New to this site but was a frequent member on calguns.net. Sad to see that site is no longer available but glad this is here. Any previous CG members know what happened to Kestryl and Cannoner and everyone else?

Just signed up. More than 10yrs on Calguns where I learned a lot and felt at home, but nothing is forever. Looking forward to participating! Based in Sonoma County and looking to find and buy back the P226 X-Five Comp I sold in 2013..with a small but reasonable finders fee of course.
