What @RustVendor said. The CA in that position is for CArryThe CA will be at the end of the SKU![]()
It's 33 WITH the mag, so its probably like the 226 which is listed the same but is actually 29oz. But yeah it's still odd because it's a full size grip like it's more of a "carry" In the reddit sense, like stick a 5" flashlight on with an extended mag and take a picture in your car "carry"Also, LOL.
A carry specific model and they still have it listed at 33 ounces without the mag. How is this thing still so heavy despite being an aluminum frame, only commander length or so, and a polymer grip.
I’d expect this to be sub 30 ounces otherwise it’ll still be pretty heavy for a carry 2011 based on its specs.
Oddly it seems all the p211s say CA in the prefix, I thought it was for carry too but it's on the normal ones as wellWhat @RustVendor said. The CA in that position is for CArry
Ah, you’re right. I misread the spec sheet on sig’s website. Okay, that’s about 30 ish ounces without the mag which is around where I’d expect it I guess. It's 33 WITH the mag, so its probably like the 226 which is listed the same but is actually 29oz. I'm sure they will come out with a p211-carry-x-compact-carry-x-macro soon thoughAh, you’re right. I misread the spec sheet on sig’s website. Okay, that’s about 30 ish ounces without the mag which is around where I’d expect it I guess.
Agreed with the grip length strangeness.
Have you seen S&W lately? They trying to do the same thing and a lot of the colors they put out are ugly as hell.If there’s one thing to count on modern Sig for, it’s to release a dozen versions of the same gun.
You aren't wrong but at least you can tell what it's gonna be from the name. there's like 45 different p226 variations that are just combinations of X and LegionHave you seen S&W lately? They trying to do the same thing and a lot of the colors they put out are ugly as hell.
imma wait for the inevitable "legion" version lolI'm getting one as soon as they put a Coyote version on the roster. I'll also get a 385 if they put a make a CA version in Coyote.
The 10 round limit depends on when you got into 2011s or if you’re using a more common mag compatible version like the staccato HD.I don’t get the point of a “carry 2011” especially in ca with a 10 round limit.
Yeah we can talk about “freedom week” all we want but some counties ccw state explicitly that you can not legally carry more than 10.The 10 round limit depends on when you got into 2011s or if you’re using a more common mag compatible version like the staccato HD.
Plenty of people, myself and others on here included, have, use, and carry our legally obtained and possessed standard capacity magazines.
Sure, but that's not going to change with any gun or platform as that's an IA-based restriction. I'd wager more counties than not either allow it or don't have an express policy against it.Yeah we can talk about “freedom week” all we want but some counties ccw state explicitly that you can not legally carry more than 10.
Not to mention that’s a 2lb gun.
I actually picked up an off roster GT4 in coyote for fun and now plan to add it to my CCW. I use the aiwb 4bros dadbod and it distributes the weight really well.I'm getting one as soon as they put a Coyote version on the roster. I'll also get a 385 if they make a CA version in Coyote.
I never said I don’t carry with 10 rounds and just like most people on here I think it’s ridiculous to even have a limit. If someone wants to carry a G17l with 33 rds I’d say hell yeah, go for itSure, but that's not going to change with any gun or platform as that's an IA-based restriction. But, again, I'm pretty sure anyone mentioning carrying 2011s lives in said permissible county/IA's jurisdiction or assumes the person who may do so will be able to make use of it. Though there is also an argument for a 2011 over a single stack 9mm 1911 as you do have more surface area for support hand contact.
Also, regarding the weight, yah, that's closer to the heavier end of what I'd personally want to carry (36 ish without a mag like an Atlas EOS) is where I tend to draw the line nowadays, preferably closer to 26-30 ounces, but I also carry a spare mag for admin purposes so that's probably a wash. I guess my point is that weight is relative to what someone is used to carrying, how large/small they are of a person size wise, how strong they are or maybe their age, what they typically wear day-to-day, and a host of other factors. It's a subjective limit that that varies for everyone.
Compact polymer grip aluminum framed 2011s are the sweet spot in terms of capability, size, and weight in my opinion. 120/126mm flush fit grip length, commander length or closer to 4 inches, preferably comped or ported for me, sub 30 ounces before accessories.I never said I don’t carry with 10 rounds and just like most people on here I think it’s ridiculous to even have a limit. If someone wants to carry a G17l with 33 rds I’d say hell yeah, go for it
What I don’t see is why leading off with a notorious highcap blocked to 10 would be super attractive in CA.
On my first permit, 1of3 was a commander 1911. Carried it a bit but just wasn’t for me and got replaced with a 365 on the next renewal. If I knew I was going in to a battle no doubt a full size would be the way to go.
