I didn't see Texas on the document saying they allowed open carry. I clicked the link to their code and searched for 'open' and didn't find a reference to allowed open carry, permitless or not.

In any case, I think open carry for the masses is a bad idea. I can see the benefit of open carry hiking or in the back country, but in a city/suburban setting, having everyone around sporting a sidearm everywhere is a recipe for trouble.

That's my opinion.

Looked it up and Texas calls it Constitutional Carry and it allows for both open and concealed. Everyone's packin' in Texas and it's been the case since late 2021. I don't know why it wouldn't work in California the way it works in Texas.

Open carry in populated urban environments is crazy, just makes you a target in many ways. An open carrier was just killed while standing in a line when someone grabbed his gun, and when they struggled for it the open carrier was killed with his own gun.

In sparsely populated rural or wild areas then it makes perfect sense to me.

Yeah not sure how I feel about open carry. Dudes walking around carrying ARs is a bit sketchy. I'd rather have permitless concealed carry.

Here’s a different take. I have a CA CCW. I have a “Guard Card” in CA. To work armed, I must also have a CA Exposed Firearms Permit. No matter if I work with my firearm concealed. Just a method for the state to take my money by way of licensing fees.

The “right to bear arms” doesn’t confer a right upon the government to dictate how you “bear”. Is it a good idea to carry exposed when out of uniform and going about daily life? Maybe not. But I certainly didn’t give that choice to the government.

The fees are absolutely ridiculous I agree. I haven't bothered getting a ccw just because of the cost and time involved, just as the state intended. Couple of hundred here, couple of hundred there, $40 dros here, 20% tax there.

Nothing being discussed "gives" anyone anything. Open/permitless carry is the default option and has 1A connotations as well as 2A.

I am in favor of open carry law. but even if I could open carry, I wouldn't. I prefer concealed and dont want to attract any attention. One reason I am in favor is because of situations where your concealed weapon may become 'unintentionally exposed' like taking off a saeater or bending over to pick something up.

I think the question is open carry. Of that list of states, the document only shows a handful that allow open carry: Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee. North Dakota even explicitly states 'no permitless open carry'.

Plus, allowing the unfit to bear arms openly or concealed is not something I want to see.

Actually, the document posted was not clear about open carry for Wyoming but it is clear about concealed carry:



And when you go to that statute and do a search for 'open', nothing shows up. It may very well be that Wyoming is an open carry state, but the document and statute weren't clear about it.

Concealed preferred. Open carry seems to make you a target.

We have both option here in az.I prefer concealed most places as its hidden and cant be seen.Only times i will open carry is remote locations in desert or woods and alot do the same.

IMO like mentioned open carry can make you a target in some places and make you the first person to go for.But if its the only option you have then go for it.
