No new sigs lately

Where do you see them for 400? It's closer to 600 otd from turners when it's on sale and that's for the 3.1" barrel.
they retail for 500 full price and they were on sale basically everywhere for 400 a month or two back

ah ok I stand corrected. but if so, the long arms are available, you just need a middleman to convert it
All Swiss SIG Import Rifles.

This is what real freedom looks like. Full plate, 2 liter stein of Lager, and maybe some desert. No crumbs here. This is what needs to be in California. Until that day, there are no victories.

I'm not sure why you are being an obnoxious pedant, they were on sale for 400 for quite a while. The conversation is about sog coming out with new CA models and how they will cost more than a p365 at a base price. No 💩 there's also tax, what a dumb ass comment

Take it down a notch dude, there are no rewards for bad behavior.

You're talking about 500 for a sig, plus 350 for a slide, 169 for a barrel and 65 for a grip, so 600 otd for the gun and 580 for parts to convert..assuming they dont pay tax on the parts. It ends up being 1180 for the conversation. Maybe you sell the old slide and get some money back.

Or 700 plus $140 in tax is 840 and you don't have to mess with it all.....so there is a good reason to just buy what you want from the start and the tax is a significant consideration.

Once the SIG 55X are imported as a pistol, anything with a 16.1” barrel an owner can add a stock too. The short barrel configurations (under 16”) would require an NFA Stamp before a stock can legally be installed to make an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle). The Swiss SIG are expensive guns and very few are imported annually. The Swiss SIG firearms should not be compared to anything made by SIG Sauer USA. The production quality of the Swiss Guns is perhaps the best in the world, unlike the quality, or lack there of, anything made in NH.
It’s still a 5k dollar AK, dude. A very nice, very well built, pretty accurate, 5k dollar AK.👐

So do you have some for sale or just showing off ?

It’s a dated platform . There are other pistols that does what it does but better.
I would respectfully and completely disagree with that statement. So is the p226 also outdated? In what ways is it outdated and what pistols do what better?

I read that the 229 platform is being discontinued.

The P226 is definitely dated, insert the newish P226X. I believe SIG is dropping the P229 for the P226X carry. Probably wont get on CARoster for a while…

Its still a p226 right? and the p229 is basically a smaller version. i understand they are moving to the X series but they are still basically the same guns just updated some.

There's something to be said for the combination of parts that make up a P226 or P229 that really does it for some people (me included). "Dated" systems are not obsolete. You can feel the quality, fit/finish, enjoy hammer/decocker, etc. Sure, other pistols are lighter and also sling bullets into things, but I hope they don't totally discontinue the P229. The Glock 17 has been out for a long time but people still buy metal framed Sigs. People considered the CZ75 series one of the best on-roster purchases until they fell off last year, even though that design's been around longer than the Sig P229.

There are a lot of things we all wish to see in the roster or better yet abllish the stupid roster instead dont hold your breath for anything anymore. Especially when it cost more the the stupid ass compliant 💩.

I shoot all metal DA/SA guns.

Caveat: I have not shot any of the new off roster P229’s. The only off roster P229 I could get was from 1997 with terrible (for me)ergonomics . I refuse to get a gun with LCI or mag disconnect .

My preferred alternative to the P229 is the P-01. Better ergonomics, faster in my hands, easier to control recoil , draw and shoot on the move. A German frame Legacy P229 was my first gun. I just sold it . The ability to have a wide choice of grip panels made the P-01 easier to shoot at speed and its weight easier to carry and conceal. I tried the E2 grips , SRT , new sights and playing with the mainspring weight on the P229. Nothing worked as well for me as a stock P-01. I have another P-01 with lighter springs . I also have a customized SP-01. Not a fair comparison. The rearward decocker and controls are more intuitive and work shooting strong hand only on a P-01. Not on a P229.

The use of the support hand to decock has created problems for newer shooters in some classes I have taken. One guy kept flagging himself as he broke his grip to decock.

It’s subjective, but while I’ve seen Glock 19’s, P365 XMacros, PX4’s and P-01’s shot in competition, never seen a P229. Once in a while a P226 and people shoot them well. But in the category of compact pistols, not too many.
