Norcal: Revolver integral front sight milled for aftermarket options

I dont know if J&G offers it, but over the years I've heard way too many horrible reviews from them.

Kimber revolver with integral front sight that I want to be able to use other aftermarket front sights (fiber optic or tritium).

Are you sure the front sight blade you have now is integral and not pinned into place?
I have swapped out a few front sights on Kimber revolvers.
You can get tritium or fiber optic blades for them.

You posted the K6S, which is pinned.

The K6XS is integral. I would just do it at home if it was replaceable.

I would bet that if you look close enough, you will find that the front sight on the K6XS is also pinned but the pin is a solid stainless pin that is blended to match the barrel and then the blasted finish hides it.

The K6S sights are not easily user replacable unless you have a way to fixture and drill the pin hole in the new sight blade,
They are easily user removable, but then you will figure out that the holes are drilled while the blade is clamped into place.
Most front sights cross pinned into key cuts are done that way.

I am speculating based on photos.

There is no evidence of the sight actually being part of the barrel from the way that the barrel is contoured.
It would be much easier in a production environment to do the circular cut and insert a sight blade and blend the pin to the barrel contour than it would be to have the sight actually be part of the barrel and then hide all the other machining that had to be done in front and behind to cut away the material that leaves the sight post.

Here is a great close-up picture of the front sight blade:

See that little dark line under the sight blade?
That's the seam between the blade insert and the barrel.

That's why I say to look for the hidden pin.
If you don't find a pin, then perhaps it's glued or soldered in.

I have shortened revolver barrels and cut dovetails for sights like you are asking for.
If you wanted to make a trip down to my shop, I do this sort of work while you wait.

EGW as well as other companies make 0.330" x 0.070" deep dovetail sight blanks that work good in this application.

That last one is setup for fiber optic and offered in many different heights.

Some of the guys I have done this type of work for drive down from the san francisco bay area.
That tells me there must not be a good enough one in their area to save them from driving down to see me.
